Current planned languages: Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish.

Unfortunately, due to budget and development time constraints, workshop support isn't currently planned. This might change after release depending on the demand and how the game does.

Yes, I'm planning to release frequent updates, focusing on support (bugfixes and balance fixes). There is going to be at least one bigger update (v1.1), adding the Custom/Endless mode. After two major post-release updates (1.1 and 1.2), I'm focused on bugfixes, balance changes and maintenance. Further major content updates are not planned.

It's not officially supported as we did not have a chance to properly test it, but some of the players reported that it works fine. I recommend using the "Proton" compatibility tool on Steam Deck and Linux, since the native Linux build has some issues especially with gamepad support. You can enable Proton under the "Compatibility" tab under the game's properties menu on Steam.

The recently updated demo should be pretty close to the full version. Bugfixes, improvements and balance changes will be made to the full version which may not be reflected to the demo version. Please consider the demo as a gameplay preview and technical benchmark.

Early patches may be available in the "testing" beta branch on Steam. To switch to the testing branch, go to the "Properties" menu for Draft of Darkness, navigate to "BETAS," and switch to this branch using the dropdown box. Note that you should back up your save file when switching branches or your save file may become corrupted.


There is a rare problem with older CPUs (mainly AMD) I'm trying to solve. Please try to run the demo first before buying the game!
Update: There has been an update, solving this problem for some people. If you were getting a crash before, please try running the game/demo again.

Navigate to Options > Graphics > Screen Effects and turn off the effects you don't like.

Navigate to Options > Graphics and lower the graphics quality, set a framerate limit, disable screen effects, reduce the render distance.

Please try running the demo before buying the game, it should give you an idea about how the game will perform on your PC.

We've come a long way without any total save wipes, but bugs may have caused corruption in the save file. If you suspect having corrupt save file, join our Discord Server[discord.gg] and ask for help in the #tech-support channel. We might be able to fix it!


You can assign an item slot to each item. Press F1, F2, F3... while hovering over an item to assign to the corresponding slot. This will order the assigned items, and also will let you activate the item by pressing the same button. You can also sort/filter items using the method below.

Yes! There is a filter button with an icon shaped as a funnel. You can filter and sort items/cards/equipment by pressing it and selecting any of the options.

Yes! You can mark/unmark equipment as junk using the SPACE key, or J key on your keyboard while hovering over the equipment. You can reassign this key in the options menu.

The game contains violence, bad language and fear; it's rated 16+. There is an option to censor profanity.

You can run by holding SHIFT (configurable). Be careful not to run into enemies!
There is an option to speed up decision event and dialogue animations in the options menu.

There are options to increase animation speed, remove time bar animation between turns, and remove condition decay animations.
