Invisible Units + Crash

I am at the mission with the evil pirates. I have 3 units that do not show up on the unit selection list pre battle.

During battle I have 3 invisible, yet select-able units. If I try to use one of these 3 it cause's the game to CTD.

Reinstalling doesn't work, verifying the game files does not work.

Could this be corrupted save data?

I had some weird issues like this on the ship, but a little different. When I pushed allies, they would freeze and vibrate, and you couldn't select them anymore. All I can suggest is what I did, using an earlier save.
