This game does not support Mac. Although the game can launch and appear to run normally, the keyboard cannot be used to play. The keyboard keys seem unresponsive, as if they don’t work at all. I initially thought the game didn’t support keyboards, so I connected my Switch controller instead. However, the situation got even worse. Once I entered the game, the controller behaved erratically, as if it was malfunctioning, pressing buttons randomly without logic. I suspected it was a connection issue, but even after reconnecting, the problem persisted. Additionally, the controller works fine in other games. Therefore, anyone considering buying this game because it supports Mac should take note of these issues.

As much as I wanted to like this game it was a massive pain in the ass. What you are promised is a game about gambling, cheating and how it affects humans in part of history defined by social turmoil. And the narrative of this game delivers that! But that's about it, the gameplay is just awfull. You are stuck doing repetetive series of Quick Time Events based on finesse movements with very little space for error. While the game tells you that it is meant to be played with controller, it isn't very honest, because saying that beating the game without one is impossible would be more fitting. Another problem in this game is that if you fail one of these QTE mayhems you are met with a unique post-death dialogue which afterwards brings you back to the last checkpoint, however fail too many times and you'll have to go throught the entire game again. A game which is 70% made of dialogue boxes, so you will essentially have to click throught them all, reading information you already know, occasionally doing the same tidious QTE to get to more boxes so you can get back to where you were. So while the story of the game is amazing, the actual game is a headache of non-entertaining meaningless musscle memorry tasks.

its been a few years since i played this game, so i cant speak for how much i enjoyed it way back when. But i do want to touch on the positives, being the fascinating story about a real historical figure and a gorgeous art style with expressive animation.
The problems lay in the repetitive gameplay, the fact of the matter being that you as the player have to recall the rules of conning your opponents. Once you memorize its rules, the gameplay becomes trivial and eventually you start glossing over it just to reach the next story beat.
Gameplay really comes down to memorizing rules and unfortunately I do not find that very fun. The concept is very fascinating, but the execution could use some fine tuning.
