Games like this?
I always hated side scrolling games if jumping is their main feature. I recently found this gamei which has combat, voice acting and a good story.

Does anyone have any suggestions for side scrolling games that meet that criteria?

Combat (not a platformer)
Voice Acted
Good story

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate might fit the bill. I was gonna recommend Shank but that definitely has platforming. Would you say Flashback and Out of this World have platforming? MiniLAW's platforming absolutely ruined it for me so definitely not that.

Shadow Complex is a side scroller that focuses on combat, but since it's in 3D they can break the camera every once in a while for cool effects. Flashback and Another/Out of This World are amazing games. Also recommend Valferis if you like pixels and HEAVY METAL \nn/ Axiom verge also which is like a metroid clone is good.

Shadow Complex has a ton of platforming and I don't recommend it as a metroidvania because it doesn't have teleportation, which is a feature SOTN had.
