If towers could hold 100 stacks of everything in the resources tab (x5 for liquids), and 10 stacks of everything in the building tab, that'd be pretty close to ideal storage values.
Spending a logistic slot on warpers is a bit silly, but at least the tiny logistic bots can do that without wasting the slot.
There is never any reason to use the small logistic towers. They need the same footprint as large towers, but are less useful in every way. The large towers are excellent for handling all tasks in system. They only suffer transport issues when selecting targets outside the solar system. The problem is they'll max out their queue on long distance resources, which can block them from restocking locally, so they'll stall. It's a fairly minor issue, easily fixed in base design by having dedicated long distance towers.
100 (1), 200 (2), 300 (3) and 25 (1), 50 (2), 75 (3) in the above case
at points 1 and 3: yeah the slide from the left for minimum and slide from the right for maximum with tiny sliders is annoying/error prone, but fortunately for me I don't have to set it too often and "have fidget spinners take away dark fog junk Icarus picked up" is a simple setting the item in the free slot(s) and swipe left to keep zero...
Unfortunately the 5(?) devs are at the other side of the Great Firewall of China and can't read these Steam discussions here. If you want them to read your suggestion, try the DSPDiscord.
So if the ILS is full and you've got the minimum load set to 1% a logistics vessel will still take a full load (up to 2000) items even though you've allowed it to leave with as few as 20 items (or fewer, depending on how much you've upgraded its cargo capacity)
If you want to limit the maximum a ship will carry you need to restrict the amount of items the ILS will store, so the ship will empty it out and leave with only a partially filled cargo hold.
