about placements on ranked
I played with Juri for a couple of weeks, and she is now at Silver 3*. Recently, I decided to try something different and picked Gief. After playing through the initial placement matches, the game placed me directly into Silver 1*, skipping Iron and Bronze entirely. Is this how it’s supposed to work? I’m a bit confused. Wasn’t I supposed to play through Iron and Bronze again with Gief, similar to when I picked Juri?

Yes this is a deliberate game design to ensure you are matched with players with similar skill levels. If the game were to start you from scratch every time you pick a new character then it would be not fair to match you with a lower ranked player who is also starting out! The game reasonably ensures that you are matched with players with similar skill levels.

OMG How stupid I am. I totally forgot about this thing. I don't need to sweat so much to get my chars from iron to gold like I did with Juri. I will start right from Silver with all of them if I understood it correctly. That's a relief.

I don't think it is cut and dry like that. My first character was Luke and I got him to Platinum. When I later switched to Ryu I wasn't placed in Plat, but closer to it (silver or gold I think). Similarly when I played a bit with Akuma.

So I don't think it is a cut a dry as game placing you in the rank of your highest character - but there is some algorithm at work. Your performance in the placement matches likely matters as well.

What I meant is that we don't have to start from zero with the other chars after getting at least one of them to a higher rank, like I did with my Juri and you did with your Luke.
