All of my researchers are permanently stressed
Not sure if this is a bug or if I'm doing something wrong, but stress isn't a problem for most of my employees except for my researchers, who basically max out with a red bar as soon as they start working for one day. I send them each on a holiday every other day. I have six of them and am usually only researching one thing at a time, so I don't think I'm overwhelming them with work. I've built them a big spacious office with windows and desks and flowers and a conference table and everything else I can think of. Every single day, at least one of them calls me and begs for time off because they're so burnt out.

On the one hand, I work in scientific research IRL, so I do find this relatable and darkly amusing. On the other hand, it is starting to get annoying. Is there anything I'm missing that would make the researchers happy?

Just hiring more of them should help resolve the issue (similar to how other positions work)?
This is assuming you have the funds to hire them/expand your facilities.
I think they are stressed because they are idiots. I still have never seen a single ticket inspector become an expert no matter how much training I have tried and even though they are fully researched the morons spend too much time on contract routes checking for tickets that do me no good.

I ignore the employees most of the time. I never give them holidays unless they ask and I deny any of those that fall on Fri-Sun. The only way they seem to be happy is if they work every other day and I refuse to double the staff and create another breakroom bigger than the warehouse to store all the lockers. Besides my current company staff cost is at 135k per day already.

The thing is, I have never seen an employee quit. They may send you emails about how their health is compromised or their family complaints but they still keep on working. The game says that stressed employees are less likely to stay after hours but I never seen a problem.

There is an achievement for letting 20 employees quit, and it's actually very difficult. Let your researchers get stressed, let them quit, then hire more. There is literaly no punishment for treating your employees poorly other than a temporary inconvenience.

With regards ticket inspectors, I still think you get fines if they're checking the contract routes, which provides some benefit.

I did a test on ticket inspector fines, and you can find that post at the bottom of this thread.

With regards happiness, apart from ticket inspectors, it's not that hard at all to get all your employees happy and friendly. Apart from lockers, there's no penalty to employing more bus drivers, so I aim for enough drivers for about 80% of the number of shifts. This means that a small number of drivers each day do two shifts, the rest will only do one.

I have a pay scale that I use for all my employees, and will gradually increase this over time so that they're happy. Once the money is rolling in, it really doesn't make that much difference. I will also fire the most unfriendly workers and hire more friendly ones.

Cheers,
Chris.

Interesting. I am such a terrible boss I half expect them to unionize and go on strike. I overwork and underpay them. I have very little seating for them to sit down. I don't even have privacy stalls in the bathroom. Some of my employees are stressed even when they are at home. I imagine the only way to get them to quit is to lower their wages.
