August Update - Balance and New Rules

Most of the Experimental Rules are now implemented in the default game. These changes encourage players to grow their economies through improvements, buildings, and wonders, rather than relying on burning cards. The old game rules are playable with the Legacy Mode custom game options.

Rule Changes

Card burns now give 5 gold for first burn per turn then 4,3,2,1
Firewood burns still give 2 hammers and 1 science
Palace gives 1 more hammer
Mine adds 1 additional hammer to yield
Fishing Hut now also adds 1 gold to yield
Huts are more likely to give science
Hut spawn rates increased
Removed Embark hammer cost
Scout gather hammer cost removed

Balance

Imperial Guard now starts with General promotion instead of Vanguard
Imperial Guard cost reduced to 9 hammers
General Promotion now buffs nearby units immediately when applied and at start of each turn
Mamluk gold cost increased to 6
Removed shuffle gold cost reduction from China

Fixes

Fixed an issue where camera would sometimes not automatically pan to attacks on your units
Fixed an issue where map generation could fail in multiplayer games with large player counts
Fixed a rare issue where the game would stop responding when quitting

August Update

Just wanted to say, not a fan of the card destroying mechanics change. Money is seldom the problem, production is, so making the cards give more cash and no hammers is a downgrade, to me. Alternates to hammer generation?

August Update discussion

Below are a few thoughts in no particular order. I propose these as feedback for the devs because I love this game. The good: 1. Card scrapping -> gold means that you are more limited in what you can accomplish in a given turn. It slows down the game and makes building improvements and an actual civilization much more satisfying. It also helps prevent degenerate strategies, like burning all your cards and playing berserker all the time on some strength'd archers. 2. With extra gold, you might ...

Hegemon Possible Cheat why is it ignored by the community/Developer ?

Looks like possible cheater messing up Hegemon why is it ignored? Did anyone check last week of July 14 stats as example. WINNER: VS Second Place 127.7 K Points VS 75 K Points 24 Players VS 43 Players 60 Runs VS 71 Runs 16% of runs VS 19% of runs 32% penalty VS 38% penalty As seen the 6% penalty difference cannot explain the 52K+ points variance, with 11 more runs and twice the players equal about half (-50%) the points with a very simila...

Steam achievement bug - be first on 10 civ

Hi, first thanks for the awesome game on a 4X, it's very fresh. Now the bad ^^ i didn't get my steam achievement when i won at first place on a game with the 10 civs. Here's what i remember : - no fog - skirmish - normal speed - huge map - continents - won being first for at least 10 turns, Egypt - 3 civs eradicated at the end of the game (i hope we should not win with all civs alive !) Keep up the good work, cheers pals...

'Charge' nows allows the AI to storm units past your Fort

No idea if this is a new change or if Zone of Control no longer means the same thing, but it's lame and ruins the reason to use that defensive feature. Please change back so a Fort matters and I don't get overrun with Zerg-swarm Warriors.
