Goal/Objective notification
At the bottom of the HUD.

I've noticed on all of the Splinter Cell you tube videos I've watched that the (objective notification) slides below the screen within seconds of receiving an objective. Likewise the next goal/objective on the initial list and or a new objective does the same thing within seconds.

This does not occur in my game, however it does move downward incrementally when a "quick Save or "Hard Save" has been made.

Anyone know how to make it stay still or just go away like in the videos?

I'm having the exact same problem like you. This time it's on all of my missions. It's quite frankly ruined the experience for me as now i never know what i'm doing unless i pause the game and look that way

Agreed it's very distracting. Up til playing the steam version I'd only ever played the 1st 4 on my late 2001 X and I don't recall ever seeing it behave that way.
Hello.

Sorry for the necro, but I was having the same problem and found the solution.

I decided to leave it here in case anyone needs it.

Apparently this is a problem related to the framerate that, for some reason, did not stay locked, even when you configure it in your video card's control panel.

I knew that the game does not do well with very high framerates, so I decided to leave it at 60 (as recommended by a guide) and still I was having the problems you reported.

I decided to lower it to 30 (as the game originally ran on consoles). It had no effect.

Since I was not having screen tearing, vsync seemed to be working at least partially.

So I opened MSI AFTERBURNER to check the framerate and suddenly the hud problem disappeared. And the game was running at 60 FPS.

It didn't make sense.

I turned off Afterburner and the problem came back.

So i opened the Windows Gamer Bar and the game was running at 200 FPS+, despite VSYNC being enabled by the Splintercell.ini settings and my graphics card's control panel.

What I didn't remember is that I had left a 60 FPS lock on the MSI in a previous test. And that's how the problem was solved.

So the solution to the problem is to somehow lock and force the game to run at a maximum of 60 FPS, which may require some third-party software, like MSIA or DGVOODOO2, to work, since apparently the game ignores the graphics card's software instructions.
