PSA: Antivirus false positives
We have been made aware that some overzealous antivirus software heuristics erroneously "detect" a virus in the release version of Ys IX.

Since I don't expect you to just trust me on this, and for your peace of mind, here is a Virustotal report of the released executable:
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/e73042a93da56e3c7cb9d5a55f8d356d728e1522a9a8852deb69b7e3f1e7ad8b/detection

If you are experiencing issues related to this, then the best option is to manually flag the game as "safe" in your antivirus software. (And, if you want to help future players, report the false positive to the software vendor)

Sorry for the trouble if you are affected by this, but there is nothing we can do (that I am aware of, please provide ideas) to prevent false positives in third-party anti-virus software.

Go to " Settings ⚙" > Threats and Exclusions > Specify Trusted Applications

Click on " +Add " and find the folder where you installed the game.
Select the EXE (one by one), and then check the:

* Do not scan files before opening
* Do not monitor Application activity
* Do not inherit restrictions from the application's parent process
* Do not monitor the activity of child applications
* Do not block interaction with AMSI Protection component
( AMSI: Anti Malware Scan Interface )

Then click "Ok"

The game should now be playable and Kaspersky shall not do anything to stop you from enjoying this game.

I thought that might be it. Kaspersky was especially mean to it on my end so I had to restart. Never doubted your work though

yup Kaspersky flag the game as Trojan.
Lipe Rinehart 11 Jul, 2021 @ 3:52am
The file has been sent to Kaspersky themselves.
Ten minutes later after they replied with the following.

" Hello,
Sorry , it was a false detection. It will be fixed.
Thank you for your help ".

I believe they will release an update on their virus database so they can fix the issue.
They are aware, and they will fix it.

DO you have an idea from experience how fast they could be with this?
Why lauch the game with this problem? It is inaceptable.

If you find it unacceptable, then complain to your anti-virus vendor.
We cannot fix bugs in your anti-virus software.

Believe me, this is at least as frustrating for us as it is for you.

Windows Defender also flagged the game so it isn't just 3rd party software.

A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thanks for posting the specific instructions for Kaspersky. Note that the "* Do not block interaction with AMSI Protection component" part really shouldn't be necessary, given that we absolutely don't do anything like that (at least if that option actually does what it says).

Yeah, you don't really need to check that option. The reason why I included that option was just in case if the anti-virus decides to be picky.
But until then, enjoy the game!

On my version installed by Steam of the file YS9.exe the test of virustotal is not the same ....
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/0c32022d9244b9d4fd693670162d3bfe38a0cf340862bd735272fb4fa5f58e29/detection

I have been using Kaspersky for years and have hundreds of games on Steam. This is the first time I've had this kind of problem.
Mr. Developer, it would be highly appreciated if you would contact Kaspersky to solve this problem that affects many players.

We've already contacted Kaspersky last week, but didn't get any useful reply other than waiting for 10-14 days for their experts to take a look.

Submit the false positive file to https://opentip.kaspersky.com/ . There should be a way to request a false positive analysis after you upload the file there.

Can anyone help me please? I listed even ys9.exe and ys9_JP.exe in Trust Application list but Kaspersky still found these 2 file as a threat and automatic delete it.
