do game sales affect console sales or is this still arcade instead of a simulation?
the title basically

i play something called gamebiz series , its super detailed , every economic thing in the game is related to each other , game sales affect console sales and longevity , series popularity affects sales etc etc

does this game anything like that or is it just like the android tycoon games where sales arent ever related?

Nope, this is fully fleshed sequel to the MGT that already had cult following.
Games increase sales for Hardware (Console, Handhelds), that you can research, develop and produce. Exclusive titles will actually give you number of bonus cons/hh units sold because of the exclusivity. Since you can have Console and HH, with sequels, you can actually have a point in game, where you could manufacture games for your Hardware only and make solid money.
It's not super complex like it seems at the beginning, but it's also not that shallow once you get the hang on, so def a recommendation for your Gamegiz series

well im not worried about complexity given i play the old game bizz titles xD over there i kept the sega saturn alive for 10 years due to the quality of my games xD its fun to just sit back and armchair other companies consoles due to the popularity of your game franchises lmao

last time i asked here about this it was not the case but glad to know it is now
There is an option at the beginning that makes Platforms last longer if they are used more.
But, this is heavily advancing old consoles into time they should not exist, and prevent new Platforms to gather more % of the market.
I tried it once, but I ended with the Apple I not dying out, since all the games are practically on it, even when the Tech level was went over 4,5. This way theoretically you can make any platform last way longer then it should, but as I said, Tech is unusable, since you will get stuck to the mainly Tech lvl 2 until 2000s

tech research should be entirely separate , ill stick to gamebiz man , everything there is simulated , even the companies are properly simulated instead of everything being pre determined , each gameplay loop is different for this reason

also i saw that porting is so stripped down and locked to platforms instead of different manufacturers of devices

Sorry, didnt realize Gamebiz is video game series, thought you were trying out business simulator games lol. I searched for it, it's pretty obscure, never heard of it, and it's not on steam.

As for MGMT2, Software Inc. is far superior game, where every run is a new run, since platforms are developed and they dont have pre-defined sales. Also it's a software simulator, not games, so you will not have many sales, if there are no platforms with high active users number. Also, there are different Tools as products, that are also used in other, giving another layer of complexity.

If you are not aware of Software Inc., I would suggest to look at it, because it do more of what you described, and wish from the game.

i did actually play software inc allot haha , Check game biz series out btw , its obscure but man its simulating the entire economy and much like software inc the AI is fully simulated as well , the difference is its in even greater detail and is focused on game development only so its quite effectively scratches that itch.

its dated and the ui can be daunting but once you get into it man its satisfying , once i got the game combos right , i made historically failed consoles into successes just because of the sheer quality of games xD it has a pretty accurate game industry timeline that can you can fully changed based on your actions
I've went on YT to see the gameplay, it looks like a game that I would create: Spreadsheet simulator, turn based, minimal graphics. I will def check it out.
