IMO, dash should definitely be based on the current direction of movement, and not cursor location.
Or, yeah, maybe an option to choose.
Moving using the cursor is bad because we get stuck in place to do damage to enemies, and differently from Diablo, Path of Exile and Wolcen, here our character deals damage with basic attack instead of spell/skill only like them.
Of course, we can do damage with basic attacks in those games, but it's weak and takes forever, like World of Warcraft, basically the best way to do damage is skill combo, something this game doesn't have (yet), thus making moving with cursor bad for this game.
The problem with the dash is exactly what @book_of_Joshua described. We are kiting an enemy by moving away from it and shooting at it (ranger/huntsman) and then the enemy uses an AoE attack that we need to use Dash to avoid and keep doing damage, but our cursor is right on the enemy because we were kiting it, we dash towards the enemy instead of away from it.
It's just not intuitive, we have to move the cursor away from the enemy, stop dealing damage, dash, and then place the cursor again to keep doing damage, and repeat this process every time a big AoE attack occurs...
The best solution is to allow the player to choose between a dash based on character movement and a dash based on cursor placement, simple as that.
