Not Start 0 chapter start. phantom library start OK. Locker unlock pattern is random...maybe
If you try all patterns and it doesn't work, With the locker key talk Mouse.
I started from chapter 0, went all the way to that point in the game, got the key, got back to Stein (the mouse), talked to him, went down to the locker, tried every possible combos of switches and still nothing when I tried unlocking it. So I'm going to start from the library chapter and do it again, but I already did all that and it just didn't work. I'm gonna talk to Stein again one more time and try again as well, but it's just not opening.
EDIT: wait... Phantom Library? You mean Mirage Library, right?
Actually, I don't understand how it works myself, lol. Started from the beginning for the last two achievements, and this time door did not open like before. I just tried different options and it opened when all levers were off, so my guess the number of pulls or their order is important here. Be sure to interact with the rabbit that held the key a second time, you will hear a sound like completing puzzle. I also pushed shelf right after entrance and raised door on second floor of the library next to teleport, but I don't think it's important
Update: I was finally able to use the key. The way I did was following the steps that megaomnislash told me. As for the switch, it happened when I flipped the 3rd switch from the right a bunch of times, about 10 times (on and off, on and off). At that point I didn't know what to do, had spent a few minutes trying random ways of flipping switches and that's when it unlocked when I used the key. I assume that flipping that specific switch a bunch of times might have triggered it. If that doesn't work for someone, let me know, but I think we're on the right track here.
3rd from the right, flip on and off a bunch of times, I'd say try 20 or so times (10 on and 10 off or something) see if we get it consistently.
Tried all possible switch combinations and flipped the rightmost one a bunch of times but every time it just says the key doesn't fit.
In my post update, I mention flipping the 3rd from the right, not the rightmost one. Try the 3rd from the right, aka the first red one from the left a bunch of times. I'm not sure if that's the solution yet but hopefully we're getting close to a proper solution.
On another note, I found a cat, but still missing 2 achievements and I'm not sure where to look. Somehow I feel they don't happen in the locker...
UPDATE: I tried to open the locker again using this method, but no dice, so back to the drawing board...
Yeah, I misread. But that didn't work either.
Where did you get the cat? I found the book and then finished the game again but didn't find it.
Was it on the same save in which you opened the locker?
I'm starting to wonder if the switches might have something to do with the electrical-ish symbols on the doors: https://i.imgur.com/y9UQXuE.png
There's 1 symbol on its own on the left and 3 grouped together on the right, like the switches. Might be a coincidence but eh... And I have no clue what to make of it.
I wonder if the yellow/red lights might be a clue too. To turn on the roof shower, you must turn on the yellow light and turn off the red light. But then again, I'm at a dead end. Turning on all the yellow and off the red (even the one in the library) didn't work :x
I even tried to identify the melody that plays in the locker room (it seems very simple) and "play" it with the switches as if it were a piano but to no avail. I think I'll stop here for tonight lol.
I have no idea what it could be then.
This time, the last switch I flipped was the 2nd from the left and in the end, they were all up. But their position at the end doesn't even matter since everybody ends up with different combinations.
Anyway, this time, I made a manual save and THEN, I backed it up. I don't want to lose it again
But seriously, if there's a logic in this, I'd be happy to know about it because I'm completely stumped.
1: Every time you try to unlock it the correct combination is a different one. For this I left the levers unchanged and repeatedly tried to open the locker but it didn't work.
2: Every time any of the levers change the correct combination is a different one. Here I just flipped one switch (always the same one), tried to unlock, rinse and repeat.
Afterwards I repeatedly tried every possible combination again but I could not get it to unlock.
I refuse to believe that it's entirely RNG based, there has to be a hint given elsewhere.
Edit: This was with an old save, mind you. I started from #3. I will try again on a new save.
By the way, the 2 times I fit the key, I started from chapter #3. I never started from scratch.
Edit: Got the key and went through all possible combinations several times again but still no luck.
Edit2: Yeah, I just can't get it to work no matter what I try. Spent a couple hours on this but no amount of combinations and random switching does it for me.
The achievement itself looks like a newspaper clipping, so I’m guessing it’s going to be in the library, especially since there’s the book that mentions the boy and the cat. Hal might comment when reading it after the cat achievement.
From there, I’m guessing Casual Exception will be something you do at the *very* end.
