The only time I've been chased by naked women. I was so scared of them that I close the game. I recommend it 10/10.

The Forest was one of the most beloved and successful survival games on Steam, so expectations for its sequel were understandably high, mine included. Sons of the Forest is a great game, especially considering it was made by a small team, but I think it doesn’t quite live up to the massive anticipation it generated.

The first thing that stands out is how good the game looks. The landscapes are beautiful, with detailed textures, lighting, and foliage. The enemy cannibals and mutants also look great and have some interesting AI that makes them feel more than just mindless attackers. It all contributes to a strong, immersive atmosphere. My favorite part of Sons of the Forest, just like in the original, isn't the survival or base-building, which are solid but not particularly exciting to me. What really pulled me in was the exploration: traveling across the large map, exploring cave systems and other points of interest while slowly progressing toward the end of the game.

Walking from one place to the next can drag a bit due to the slow movement speed and large map. Combat is a bit janky, but I never found it too bothersome. What disappointed me more was the story. I appreciated the simple but effective narrative in The Forest, and this time it feels like they missed the mark. The respawn system is also strange, there’s even a chance to get spawn-trapped by enemies if you are unlucky.

For co-op play, I can fully recommend it. It’s still worth playing solo, but without a companion to chat with, all the traveling can make the pacing feel a bit slow.
