Dying should let you restart at the screen you died in
So while I've been enjoying my time with the game for the most part, I've ended up dying at certain points and was far away from save points which results in me losing progress in the form of collectables and upgrades. This wouldn't be an issue if the game KEPT your progress up til the point you died, but instead it just reloads the last checkpoint.

As far as I saw is that on normal mode you get damage but don't instantly die, but on hard mode you instantly die.

I Can really think about that since some players report me the same thing.
My game is a Metroidvania like olds Castlevania and in old Castlevania when you die you have to restart from save point without all you get before.

But I think sometimes we have to adapt game from actual code!
So, here is what I think :

In normal and hard mode, if you die you restart from save point but you keep your progression.
In easy mode, you restart from the actual room you die, with your progression.

What do you think ?

This would be fine actually, as at least some progress is preserved.
