I would suggest buying health, mobility and roll skills to help you move around faster while being able to do some more mistakes without dying. Also a tonic with the revive chance really gives you a second chance on this boss.

Also, a tip if you are crouching those laser bars that move won't hit you. Just know once you aim you stand up.
I normally don't put points into upgrading my roll or movement, so I find this boss very difficult too, but knowing the crouch can save my life was wonders.
(If you get up real close to the grid of laser spikes, you'll go into cover/crouch stance)

If you get up close to the grid of laser spikes, you'll go into cover/crouch stance!

Thanks. I noticed in a previous fight, I was crouching in between the "grid" of seams. Like the center of each panel I would be crouched, but not by the seams. Didn't happen again and thought maybe I was missing a button keybind or something.

Wow seriously? Lol that tip just turned this boss fight super easy. Never would have guessed you could crouch the lasers based on the camera perspective.

Just tried again and my character does not crouch no matter how close I get. Stopping, not aiming, etc. Just stands there. Between this and various aiming issues missing unless I'm on top of the enemy, I'll take a break and come back in a bit.

You can’t manually crouch, the player only crouches if there is a cover you are standing close to.

Then there are bugs or issues. I've had at least 2 fights earlier against this boss where I was crouching under the lazers as long as I wasn't aiming (RMB). Could move underneath them while walking and being still. Aiming stood up but would crouch after stopping aiming. Most attempts haven't been able to crouch though.

Or is there cover during this encounter I have miraculously been blind to? LOVE the game besides this fight; just seems inconsistent. I've beaten it twice, so it's not impossible, but with the extra lasers in the third attempt, with longer rolls you can't cancel/change-direction-of early, and no crouching, I'm just needing a break lol.

Hmm. Yes then I will look into it since something might be wrong. Some cover that isn't reset correctly so the player still thinks he is inside cover or something like that.

That really helped me to beat the welder two times. Somehow, when beating the welder a third time, my character is not going into crouch anymore which makes the first part of the fight with all the lasers so hard already, that I'm almost dead when reaching the even harder second part.

Oh wait, I noticed that in the second phase you can just stay directly besides the bosses walls. That way none of the spikes can get me.
And in the third phase, the crouching thing works again.

Man I need to test this out on the switch! Blasting through the level with ease only to get cheap killed at 24 damage a pop by lasers and spikes is infinitely annoying. I did find getting tonics and/or mind blow chips that replenish HP every second help, so you can just play “dodge the death” while your HP goes back to full, as the kill leach is great, but two small waves of enemies aren’t enough to offset the large amount of damage that the lasers and spikes dish out. Perhaps a perk that lowers trap damage would be a nice addition.

Just get through the first phase any way you can. You shouldn't have any issues with second (hug the boss' wall) and third (crouch glitch works again) phase then.
