It says something that noone in a 100+ man studio with at least 10 "tops" supervising production dared to say "Guys... I don't think these characters are that likable".
It's like they have a machine to spew out these generic pseudocool characters.
I blame the hero shooters.
"qwiwky" = "quirky" (and "eccentric") thats what these lousy writers tried to imply with the black chick and the engineer guy. Blood pours left and right but hey lets make these characters act like they're from a modern Disney movie, and not a good one.
"webel" = rebel, as in going against the grain, widely accepted norms or status quo. "I'm 14 and this is deep" attempt at going against stereotypes and...
"divewsity" = diversity (first & foremost); ...going obviously too far with that and the "empowerment" creating awful pseudocool stereotypical, "diverse" characters.
BS = bullsh!t
These characters look and behave like a mix of cartoon and [worst kind of] video gamey video game. Like if APEX Legends, Gears of War, last Saints Row and Disney Channel had a bastard baby that suffered a terrible sickness that left it disfigured and unlikable.
That's Redfall characters for you. And the "priestess" is a great symptom of that.
I like the game for it's ambience, but then I always ignore stories and characters.
Insert old man rant about games being games again and not wannabe movies or tv shows.
So I'll talk however I'll want and you'll respectfully obey.
It's a videogame.
If you want real monster shooting experience, join Ukrainian Armed Forces and shoot invaders.
And that generally the problem is with that "fun" part.
But, by itself, super weird.
