Ascended Armour for Elementalist (Catalyst)
I am thinking about crafting an Ascended set for my Elementalist (M. level 160).

Currently I have the Zhed Exotic set.

What would be a good Ascended set? Zojja's armor (light)?

And for that I have to level Tailor to 500 first?

I tell new players to go for Berserker's.

However, if you are going to make Ascended for an Elementalist, I would suggest Wupwup (Celestial Stats).

Yes, you need 500 Tailoring.

Depends entirely on what your build and goal is. Condi vs Power? Boon support for team or solo open world? PVP, WvW, or PvE? Your answers to these questions change what the best armor for you is. If you want something generic that is at least good in every situation, Celestial stats is the choice, especially since you are newer so you only need to invest in one ascended set for all situations.

If it’s your first set then I’d say go full Berserker (Zojja’s). Lets you do all PvE content on all classes that share the armor type. You’ll be a bit squishy when solo in the OW, but dying there is only a minor nuisance and story instances have on-the-spot res in difficult fights.

You can counter that to some extent by sequence-break getting the jade bot masteries first, should you already have the EoD expac. (Bot self-res, up to 235 additional vitality and a defensive buff)

I would not recommend getting a ‘build-locked’ set as your first.

Yeah Zojja's is also what I had in mind. Will probably go with that one first.

Will start with a new staff (also Zojja).
First of all in your place I would buy the Secrets of the Obscure expansion,
to get access to the "free" 3 ascended armors and weapon pack.
Also the legendary starter pack.
The free armors are limited to core game prefixes, so literally perfect for you.

Keep in mind you can stat swap ascended gear if you don't like it, though this will destroy any attached upgrades like runes and infusions, so make sure to extract them first.
I have Soto...but how to get the free ascended armors? Actually the first time I hear of this...
You buy them in the

Have you not noticed the constant flashing icon at the top?

Well I gave you something to read then. :steamhappy:

Via the Wizards Vault, the Daily system. At the top bar, the second last icon, usually has a red 1+ on it if you did not yet claim anything on a day. There on the first tab you have access to daily, weekly and special tasks (you can select whether you want PvE, PvP or WvW tasks).

And completing those gives you a currency that you can spend on the second tab (on the left) And there you usually can buy 3 ascended armor chests and one ascended weapon chest every league, as well as many other very valuable items, like even a precursor and some legendary gifts.
Ok.. and anyone know how to get Ascended Trinkets?

I went to different maps yesterday to certain vendors and they had Ascended Trinkets for map currency (for example Wildberries in Icebrood). But I didn't have much of the map currency so I could only buy an earring and a ring on the other map.

Isn't there an easier way to get the trinkets?
What has been said before you can now get ascended armour/weapons via the wizard vault by doing daily/weekly tasks so it can take away the need to craft them.

Also collections can get you some pieces (just a reminder is you can convert them via the mystic forge).

You can also get one Bjora Marches Asgeir's Amulet

For ascended trinkets in general those living world maps are probably the best place. But if you want ascended rings with stats from the core game, then the best place are the fractals, since there you can buy a ring for just 10 Pristine Fractal Relics.
