Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2

Filthy WoW player need feedback
A potential migrant from the high north curious about your culture

How active is raiding ?
ratio of active raiding guilds vs "idle guilds" ?
how rewarding is raid clears ?
is loot potentially being dwarfed by trivial nobrainer content ?

how is tanking & speedruns, threat system ? good/bad pathing for LoS/Stack control ?

1. Guilds host runs weekly.
2. Easier to find active guilds than idle guilds.
3. Mostly done for the Raid Legendary Armor sets. Legendary Weapons and Trinkets are done outside of raids. There are different Legendary Armor sets that can be obtained in PvE (SoTO required), WvW, or PvP.
4. For loot and materials, Fractals are the preferred farming method. A great source to earn T6 (highest tier) mats required to craft Legendary or Ascended gear (both share the same stats). Fractals also have a chance to earn or even buy Ascended gear.

To prevent confusion, the difference between Ascended and Legendary is, Ascended can be stat changes but requires materials and the use of the Mystic Forge. Any upgrades in it can be lost in the process. While Legendaries can be stat swapped on the fly for free, upgrades can be added or swapped for free, and because of the Legendary Armory, can be shared between multiple characters at the same time.

There is no traditional holy trinity. However, often the tankers are the healers. You can also make builds that are deceptively tanky that do a lot of life stealing or something similar.

cheers, that saved me a lot of time ! looks like its best to leave mmos on the shelf for a bit longer

Seeing WoW-trained professional MMO-players so damn anxious about "winning" at MMO is part hilarious and part sad to a vet GW2 player..

i dont know what your updated message means that im anxious to win, none of that was involved in any of my questions for feedback whilst my standards has continously decreased because of the consistent degradation of mmos since around the turn of 2010.

i hoped to find consistent raiding with somewhat at least slightly mechanically intense fights to be able to enjoy that type of rush again once in a while and i managed to get stuck with garbage like eso that train their customers to drift endlessly around the game like drones doing nothing but daily chores and barely 10% of the active player pop even attent raid activities as if it wasnt impossible enough to even find people who ever bother with dungeon challenges.

There are also Strikes that are like raids and offer both Strike currency (to buy lots of goodies like exclusive gear and Ascended gear) and Raid currency when doing the challenge mode. Those are done daily since there are weekly and daily strikes.

FFXIV is the only other Raid-focused game.

GW2 combat is more intensive in the expansions.

Open world has some intensive events. The F2P portion is relatively braindead though.

They upgraded the low level world bosses, so you can dip your toes in by quickly leveling to 15 or so to see if it interests you. Every race but the Charr (furries) has one in their newbie area that routinely happen on a set schedule:

When you don't have fun in WoW anymore and GW2 is nothing for you. Then don't try out FF14. It's realy no different from the rest. The combat is even slower there.

Just to say, you can download the ftp version. Then level a bit, you do not have to get to level 80 and check the event timer. /wiki et I believe that is the in game command. Then go to where the event is taking place. If you get a hit in on the boss, you get loot and experience. Based on participation I think.

Can give you an idea of open world content. Supposed to be open world raids in the next expansion.

here is a little overview of the open world content (where most content resides)
there also exist strikes but they are mostly focused on expansion content

keep in mind raiding is NOT quite the same as WoW. in fact there is only 1 at this moment but they will be adding a second one. most the content is fractles and or dungeons.

feels like yet another fake wow player trying to shill, every video is gw2 beside his third oldest one explaining with a video being literally "why i switched over" where hes continously just repeating the same initial point about "accessibility" when gw2 is so little like an mmo from a WoW veterans perspective, the combat is so unbelievably starved from mechanical engagement from the basic gameplay point of view.

if youre completely devoid of the need for threat, taunts, tauntoffs, cc, kiting, los/stack/burn kind of mix of engaging with enemy threats and at the same time sounding like hes praising LFR which is what is actually partially whats destroying WoW.

just watching the video where hes praising a boss fight where the boss is continously charging back and forth & spinning around like a freakin fidgetspinner trying to pick a new target multiple times, i have so lost faith in mmos to ever become good again.

fractals seems like it couldve become fun but gameplay doesnt seem like its worth investing my time but thx for your feedback

edit: at least deimos seemed like a decent boss but im not finding it in me to understand what people see in this game

i was sceptical myself at first (and i´m a wow veteran myself since legion) but fell in love with it pretty quick because of various reasons
1. you are not forced to do the same content over and over again to get the best equipment
2. crafting is far more complex then in wow (research is the main factor) , materials can be stored in a accountwide bank
3. the world has a more consistent story and does not retcon the story every 2 expansions (i look at you shadowlands)
4. old equipment is still viable and up to date , even 2-4 expansions later (horizontal progression)
5. no subscription fee (buy the expansions and living seasons and play them whenever you want)
6. strikes are like mini raids (did some myself and they were fun to play) , fractals are like m+ but with a twist and some interesting mechanics , world bosses ans bosses are more complex
video below :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vkzb8iPjmDE
7. world vs world is sort of a open world pvp mode where you have multiple big maps to choose from (havent done it yet but plan to do it)
8. mounts are more meaningful , instant mounting and they even have their own skill paths in path of fire (2 can even fly , everything else is cosmetic) , gliding like a demon hunter and when you go down you dont die immedietly but can get a second wind , everyone can revive everyone and so on
