⚠️Troubleshooting Guide⚠️

What is your issue with the game?

👉 My game won't even launch.

👉 My game crashes immediately.

👉 My game crashes during gameplay.

👉 My computer freezes.

👉 My computer bluescreens.

👉 My monitor goes black / turns off.

👉 Can't click on anything in the main menu.

👉 Mouse and/or keyboard not working.

👉 Can't join my friend's multiplayer.

👉 My friend can't join me in multiplayer.

👉 Kicked back to the main menu.

👉 Can't load my Humble save.

👉 Humble is missing from new game.

👉 Humble is missing from the solar system view.

👉 Black screen when loading a save.

👉 I'm in the sky after loading a save.

👉 I see only blue or red sky with glitched terrain.

👉 I'm out of bounds or below the map.

👉 Can't deconstruct a room.

👉 I have an issue not listed above.

My game won't even launch on Windows

Make sure you are running

Windows 10 21H2 or later,
Windows 11 22H2 or later,
Windows LTSB 2021 or later.

If you made sure, read on.

Verify game files via Steam

Right click on the game in the Steam Library, pick properties.
Go to the Installed Files tab, then click on Verify.

If it didn't work, read on.

Clean install the game

Go to the game's install directory, then delete everything in it.
Verify game files.

My game won't even launch a Linux-like OS

Make sure you run the latest Proton Experimental version.

Verify game files via Steam

Right click on the game in the Steam Library, pick properties.
Go to the Installed Files tab, then click on Verify.

Clean install the game

Go to the game's install directory, then delete everything in it.
Verify game files.

My game won't even launch on Mac

Make sure you are running the latest Parallels Desktop, CrossOver or similar virtualization software.

Unfortunately, gaming support on Mac is generally spotty, so you might be out of luck.

My game crashes immediately due to an Audio device issue

Incompatible hardware

Unplug or disconnect your headphone or speaker.

If it didn't work, read on.

Incompatible software

Open Device Manager
Open "Sound, Video and Game Controllers"
Disable anything that isn't "Realtek"
Open "Sound input and output"
Disable anything that isn't "Realtek"
Restart your computer.

If it didn't work, read on.

Wrong Windows Sound Output

Right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Sound settings"
In the output device dropdown, select the "Realtek" device, even if it already says so.
Restart your computer.

You might have an uncommon issue, please open a new topic and

List your hardware specs, such as CPU model, RAM amount, Graphics Card.
Describe your problem in more detail than "doesn't work".

Make sure

your laptop-specific drivers are up-to-date.
your laptop doesn't overheat.
your laptop isn't overclocked.

Did you recently modify hardware inside your laptop?

Make sure

the new hardware (RAM, disk) is sitting firmly connected.
the new hardware is not faulty (RAM/Disk checker).

Move your game install onto a fixed drive, such as any internal HDD or SSD.

Is the game on a removable media?

👉 Yes.

Are you running ReShade?

Remove it.

Are you running WeMod?

Don't use WeMod.

Otherwise, what is your Graphics Card ?

👉 Integrated Intel (HD, UHD, Arc)
👉 Integrated AMD

👉 Dedicated Intel (Alchemist, Battlemage, ...)
👉 Dedicated AMD
👉 Dedicated NVidia

Otherwise, are you on a Laptop?

👉 Yes

Otherwise could be the CPU?

👉 Intel (none of the above)
👉 AMD (any)
👉 Mac M1+

Crash on Intel 13th or 14th gen i7 or i9

You have the Intel Vmin Shift CPU hardware bug. Article[community.intel.com]

Update your motherboard BIOS to the latest version, which should include the Intel Microcode Update 0x12B or 0x12F.

If it didn't work, read on.

BIOS is up to date

Make sure it is set to the right profile:

Extreme (i9 only)
Performance

If it didn't work, read on.

BIOS is on right profile

Turn down the profile one notch

Extreme -> Performance
Performance -> Default

If it didn't work, read on.

None of the profiles work

There is a good chance your CPU is damaged beyond help and needs replacement.

Crash on Any CPU

Try one or more of the following:

Disable XMP / EXPO on your RAM.
Downclock the CPU by 100-200MHz.
Power limit your CPU.
Disable CPU overclocking.
Disable PBO (AMD).

Game crash on Intel Integrated GPU

Update your graphics driver to the latest available to your system.

If it didn't work, read on.

I have the latest driver

Go to the folder

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Intel\ShaderCache

and delete everything in it.

ℹ️ If you can't seem to find the folder, enable "Show hidden files and folders" in Windows Explorer.

If it didn't work, read on.

Increase VRAM

In the BIOS, assign more RAM to your integrated graphics, around 4-6GB if possible.

If it didn't work, read on.

Limit the card

Try one or more of the following ingame:

Disable the GPU Resident Drawer option.
Disable the GPU Occlusion Culling option.
Limit the framerate to 60 or below.
Lower the game quality.
Lower the game resolution.

Didn't work

Unfortunately, the game keeps getting more demanding and your integrated GPU, or its drivers might not be up for the task anymore.
