Nice game but LITTLE HOPE HAS THE LEAD
Time for the second run for House of Ashes, it's a really nice game, with good story, but for me Little Hope, is way better .

Comparing Little Hope and House of Ashes is like comparing a very good, well-writed, subtle movie with a boum-boum gun goes brrrr holywood blockbuster.
Until dawn, Man of Medan and Little Hope were way more interesting in my opinion. But I'm not surprised that most people like House of Ashes better tbh.

Isn't House Of Ashes way longer and way more interesting gameplay-wise?

HoA is longer but gameplay is the same. Cutscenes and dialogues in HoA are soooooo long, you barely get to play at all.

All of them are great, imho. It is just that setting and characters chosen impact flow and diversity of actions in the game.

Each game has it's own strong point, if MoM was more about adventure with mystique, then LH is about purgatory and redemption or damnation, a personal hell as stated somewhere. HoA is, as said above, brr boom but in a good way. It has a different appeal, and the setting is as great as ever.

Until Dawn made it all happen but man is it painful to play it on PS4 with 30 FPS cap after PC follow-ups.

One thing for sure is best in HoA - diversity of paths. Branching here is much more complex and detailed than in any of previous three games.

I mean, MoM and Little hope are some of those things that seem interesting and make you think of a hundred different scenarios or ways it could play out in your head when you're in the moment; but leaves a sour taste in your mouth when you leave the cinema since you'll probably never want to rewatch them again because the *It was all a dream* (or equivalent) trope is so god awful and lazy.

Ashes is a great popcorn flick that is just fun to revisit.

I agree wholeheartedly with Until Dawn though, still their best work and it's a shame it hasn't been ported over or that more of that meatier sort of thing isn't in the cards by the devteam.

One of the best undocumented stealth updates on the PS5 is that this runs flawlessly at 60 now :steamhappy:

Dark Pictures Anthology, until today, has made an amazing job with those three games, personally from me it goes

1) Little Hope
2) House Of Ashes
3) Man Of Medan

Also something else i forgot
I'm getting ready for my 3rd run on HoA, and i can tell only one thing .

Saving the whole team in HoA, is MUCH EASIER than LH .

Hmm interesting, I'm of the opposite opinion myself since a lot more of the deaths in HoA can occur outside of QTE's, and are determined on past bearings that can influence outcomes. In our co-op games We lost Eric Early from not cutting the rope - The Marine boys didn't show up in time to help him. Eric can also die through no QTE failure in the assault from Clarice in an auto cutscene, Infected Rachel can off herself with Phosphorous in certain singleplayer scenarios, We also lost Nick after the explosions went off in the Vault since too many of us were injured - so Salim didn't make it in time to stab Balathu despite the player controlling Nick passing all his QTE's.

Granted it's been a while since I played Little Hope but I recall a lot of them mostly being QTE-based, and whether or not you have the gun can be a bait and switch.

Just to help you out, pass all QTE's, use to answer WITH ALL BRAIN, EXCEPT from the moment when Rachel and Jason's QTE's

When Rachel is ready to command Jason to shoot her, answer with heart two times, ALSO you must have Eric alive, to use his light, to burn Rachel and make her " throw " the alien from her self .

Also when you control Nick, don't let him reach the far nest inside .
And the last one, when Salim was left behind, make Jason to command to leave him behind, and in the elevator, command your team to wait for Salim.

Believe it or not, i find this out, BY LUCK :D :D :D

I mean all opinions are valid but IMO, the endings to the two previous games were cheap (and very similar) and completely took the fun out of the entire experience for me. This one didn't do that and it was *very* refreshing.

Endings on the frist two games have nothing similar at all.

Um, the hallucinations? Granted they were caused by different issues but at the end of the day they were still hallucinations. It was cheap. You don't have to agree.

Yeah I mean the fact of the matter is that they did the ..and it was all a dream.. trope 2 times in a row, and it lessened the threat entirely.

HoA are tangible threatening monsters, which is a welcomed addition and makes it feel a lot like Until Dawn in that regard.

"at the end of the day they were still hallucinations" - um, so? :D In MoM even though it was halluciantions, those hallucinations caused deaths of the characters.
And hallucinations in LH - once again, there is no problem with hallucinations as such. The sroty was great and intense, atmosphere was great, monsters design was bаdаss.
How is that hallucianations make it automatically cheap? The point that "hallucinations = cheap" just makes 0 sense on its own. But you for sure wiil not be able to eleborate on this.
Maybe there is some kind of encyclopedia where it is stated that "hallucinations = cheap" but I'm not aware of such. It wasn't cheap. You don't have to agree. And considering first two games similar it just erm... no comments :D
