Astral Ascent is among the titans of roguelikes, I could say it's on the level of Hades and Dead Cells in terms of quality.
10/10 for music, gameplay, and dialogue.
Achievements are also fun to pursue (currently at 93% with 51 hours played).
Also, a lot of build variety. No run will be the same, you can experiment until you find a build that is stomping every level and boss.

The gameplay is excellent. Very well designed and well-tuned.
If you're a fan of fast 2D battling, this game will be very fun for you.
The game also is nicely balanced, so the game allows you to ball out of control instead of choking you somehow to force you to spend a lot of time with "bullet sponge" enemies.

The visuals might be the weakest part of the game, so if you're going: "Something about the visuals feels a bit inadequate for me." then you might be in for a surprise how well made it is in other ways.
Also, you don't need to buy the DLCs if you don't know if you want to commit all the way to buying everything at first.

the amount of sheer content and updates keep me coming back. just beat danger 6 after a few months of not playing, and it is so much worth it to keep clearing higher dificulties. hella fun, boss fights that keep you glued to he screen and beautiful gameplay across all playable characters. 10/10

Solid game with solid mechanics. I've really enjoyed the gameplay, and they really nailed down the Rogue-Light feel as you progress through the game.
The characters are well voice acted, and solid personalities. I personally don't really like any of the main characters, but I suspect I'm not meant to.
