Zero Tolerance

Zero Tolerance

Will multiplayer work on this emulator?
Will the multiplayer feature work on this emulator or will the feature to select it be removed altogether? There's no known way to play this game in multiplayer without getting a hold of that ancient cable and a Sega Genesis, so it would be amazing if it worked here.

I doubt their emulator would support a feature used in only this (and maybe Beyond Zero Tolerance)

I mean, obviously.

But I'd still rather have an answer from the developers because only they know for sure, and so that i know if it's even worth having this re release on my mind.

I'm just going from their Mega Drive / Genesis emulator in other games they released. It isn't anything special. The list of features are limited to setting two 6 button controllers (though don't believe they have any 2 player games for the system), save state slots and basic visual settings (1x to 4x windowed or full screen with custom border art, and a smoothing toggle). It plays the games, but there are emulators from the 90s with more features.

Yea, I've yet to see an emulator on Steam that's any better than an emulator you can just download online - unfortunately none of which still support MP for Zero Tolerance though.

With no multiplayer, there's really no reason to buy this version over downloading them for free from the Technopop website legally as it will be the same exact thing, if not better due to more features other emulators have. But based on that I assume it will be free, so.. accessibility I guess?

We can hope it is free. I'm doubtful, but still hopeful.

Man, if they managed to add multiplayer somehow I would definitely pay up to $5 for it...

It seems to me that it would be even easier to implement online multiplayer in this game than in any other mega-drive game. The original game required a separate cable to connect the two consoles. This is similar to how online play works today. You just need to modify the emulator for this. I think this is not the most difficult task for an average programmer.

Im hoping that they make a multiplayer feature more on the co op side of things. My brother and i grow in playing this game and are currently looking for a means to play this game multiplayer.

Actual hardware is probably your best bet. Granted, you will probably want a flash cart for each system, but I don't think any emulator has support. Could be wrong though. Find a Reddit community focused around Mega Drive emulation and ask there if any emulators support it for this game.

It would be amazing if they added multiplayer, some of my favorite multiplayer memories are are with this game. Unfortunately I no longer have my link cable or access to 2 Genesis systems. Developers, please consider implementing this.

I am currently testing connecting through Retro arch's netplay normally and the 2 player mode doesn't work
DeltaBladeX 6 Jul, 2024 @ 6:58pm
It wouldn't. The method was used only by this game using a link cable created by the original developers for the game. You need an emulator that includes support for it, and I'm not sure any does.
