asking myself the same question. this is straight up an emulator and a rom without any issues fixed, such as 15fps performance

Yeah, the 15 fps issue is terrible...

The 15FPS issue would require an actual remake that isn't limited by the hardware and code.

Easy port, controller support, turbo mode. They should improve it more. Still better than gen version + works from steam library, do not need to setup every time.
It is more of convenience stuff
