I have all 8 Genome slots unlocked but when I fill all 8 I get a red error saying "Genomes Exceed Slot Limit" Why? Is this a bug?

I just want to thank all those people putting in a negative review because the game is apparently abandoned (at least, the devs aren't communicating or updating). Just got a steam alert about the sale, and the Very Negative rating immediately got my attention. Glad to not have been tricked into a sale on something that seems like it will never be finished....

Hi, the game is stuttering crazy late game. This happens shortly after you build an outpost at Dark Glows. The clock ticks approx. 12 min ....chop (stops for a short time) and then 12 min and chop again. Wildly annoying. Cannot center on a point. You can save the game and stop the game and restart and nothing is wrong for a short while. I see I'm definitely not alone with this error. I removed a genome sequence from the cloning lab while it was actively cloning before actually aborting the current cloning process. This resulted in the "removed" sequence being "in use" by the cloning lab even though it was not in use.
