RL2 is too grindy and difficult. Somehow with all the new features it is not as fun as RL1.

Let the "git gud" replies commence

Anyone else?

I kinda agree. (More with the difficulty part, less with the fun part) The platforming challenges and the new armor system make exploring stressing, but all the diverse classes and actually interesting boss fights are fun for me tho. Although it's not the kind of fun I expected from Rogue Legacy haha. Not that I don't like it but it feels fairly different from the first game.

The room design and enemy placement is a big part of it for me...many of the room layouts feel unfair instead of challenging. The classes are cool, I esp. love the Valkyrie. But I don't have much luck with any one particular class over another. Early Access games often skew hardcore at the start and get a little more balanced over time, fingers crossed

Everything feels slick and fluid except the character movement, which makes platforming and dodging enemies not always hard but frequently frustrating. The whole game is gorgeously animated and I wish movement didn't clunk. It's hard to put a finger on exactly why though; it's probably several minor things working together.

only major thing I don't like is the heavily accelerating fall, sometimes there's no way to see what's coming and you're moving too fast to realistically do anything about it unless you've encountered that layout before AND recognize it ahead of time.

the heirloom challenges and bosses are hard (esp the latter) but they're still doable even for someone like me with 0 reflexes. maybe the first boss needs to be toned down a little, or they could introduce a boss rush mode where you can practice fighting bosses you've encountered (but not limited just to those you defeated, otherwise there's no point).

edit: actually the armor system sucks big time too, def needs some changes.

YES! Boss rush mode!!!!! I would love that.

Boss rush would be fun -- I think they need to ramp down the difficulty on the first one. Too many patterns and your character isn't really skilled enough without a bunch of grinding.

@Johnny you can now use the right stick to look below which makes falling less annoying. But you can still fall between rooms and land on an enemy which is cheap and frustrating

i don't have a controller and looking down is very limited, not guaranteed to see what's coming

I don't know about the armor system but there are runes that make you recharge your armor with mana potions.

Also i disagree with the toning down of the first boss.

The more updates the more access you have to more biomes which means more money.
Also more updates means more upgrades available.
Right now everything like rune weight seems to be on a leash.
Just wait it out for now.

Eventually trainers will exist to speed up the grind, but at least on a first playthrough i'd advice against it unless you're completely not not enjoying yourself.
Otherwise go nuts.

One thing I noticed about RL2 vs RL1 is you have to be more careful and deliberate with how you move your character. This is mostly because the classes are significantly more diverse in RL2 then they were in RL1.

That said I actually find grinding up in this game is EASIER then it was in RL1.

RL1 didn't have class masteries
RL1 didn't have gear upgrades
It was harder to increase your rune/gear weight in RL1 than it is in RL2
and frankly I feel RL2 has a FASTER upgrade path than RL1 (now that they have added biome 2 and 3)

Add to the fact that we only have three biomes right now, and I can see this game being FAR easier then RL1 was...

If you came here to troll by throwing nonsense arguments without making a proper discussions then you will get what you deserve.

Learn how to play the game or live forever with your skill issue.

Git gut as you please if you think you need to grind anything to beat those easy bosses.

Whats next? You are gonna tell me that I need to level up to beat From Soft games? lmao

The thread was over 4 years old. The game was still in Early Access, being fully released in 2022. Don't necro such discussions.
