Hey Hikers!


It’s been an extra busy year for the Fairview Games team as we quickly make our way through some big milestones and all the things we need to do to get The Gold River Project out to you all. As we quickly approach this goal, we’re starting monthly Dev Blogs to keep you up to date and get a peek behind the curtain to learn more about our team and game!

Our biggest priority is creating a fun & dynamic game as many people as possible can play. Months of testing with our Backers has lead to a ton of improvements to gameplay and LOTS of bug fixes. Also very importantly, it has helped us pinpoint optimization needs to help us get the game running on as many PC builds as possible. While this goal is still a work in progress, we’ve already made a ton of improvements! Here is what we’ve done so far:

• Reduced texture sizes to save on VRAM and reduce game size
  
• Pinpointed character model details that were causing loss of frames
  
• Updated game UI
  
• Pinpointed pain points in gameplay that were leading to frame drops
  
• Overall map adjustments to reduce demand on machines

With all of these adjustments, we’ve already gotten reports of improvements from Backers! While we have some temporary solutions in place, knowing we’ve found the causes brings us that much closer to a more playable game!

Tackling community updates, marketing, and game development with a team of 6 is a challenge, but a rewarding one. Community and player experience are important to us and we’re going to keep doing everything we can to bring you a game you all can thoroughly enjoy. And at the pace we’re going, that could be sooner than you think. Hope 2025 works for you all too 😉.
