What do you look for with summons?
So, you've decided you want some player assistance with a battle. You use a furcalling remedy and peruse the golden signs players have placed. What do you look for? Armour and weapon choices? Interesting names and looks?

I mainly ask because I often place my summon sign on the ground and I wonder what would-be hosts look for.

I largely expect competence

How can you tell if someone's competent though?

But you can't know that until after you've already summoned them, what makes you choose to summon that player in the first place?
Whoever is wearing the least amount of clothing.

Odd, wouldn't those people typically be really tanky?

If you're running around this game with no armor then that probably means you're very good, everyone once in a while it's someone who is just clueless, but in my experience they are usually quite skilled.
A good fashion or cosplay, tends to be people who put things together themselves so I expect a more competent players

Skip all metaslaves, Varre Masks, dual twinblades, scavenger curved swords, Rivers of Blood, Blasphemous Blade.
They tend to be locked to that one attack.

No, they have lots of armor and look tough but have 40 vigor and someone with a proper build will crack them open like Radahn cracked poor ol Alexander. I vigor check these fatties all the time. Good luck surviving a hit from me with less than 60 vig
I don't summon co-opers very often, but when I do (and it's not for Consort Radahn where everyone is trying to get co-opers so I need to grab anyone available in under a second or I get no one) I generally look for someone running an interesting non-meta build.
