Do you want ER2 or another game entirely?
Personally I want From to kill Souls franchise and venture into a different domains like they did with Sekiro, AC6, and Bloodborne. Sure Dark Souls created the genre, but the aforementioned games are simply more polished and organic and fun to play imho.

Dark Souls was a true gem, but I think it was kinda by accident. The community took a great idea and made it zany, silly, and competitive. But I don't think Souls is where From's skill truly lies...

Thoughts?

I want Kings Field 5 (coping)
Sekiro 2 would be neat, I think that game is their peak performance so far, but wouldn't mind another soulslike fantasy adventure as long as its good. I vibe with these games more than any other genre.

I'm with you ;)

While I look forward to a new IP, I think they should keep the "generic dark fantasy" from Souls (and now Elden Ring being the most polished version imo) around and make a new game in that framework eventually. Doesn't have to be set in the Lands Between ofc.
I guess From is big enough that can diversify and do both, really.

I want another DS3 game with a little more liveliness in the backgrounds. Maybe like an old school Ghouls 'N Ghosts type set. As long as they stay in their lane and keep the Dark Souls art style and feel.
I'd be interested in the JRPG that Miyazaki wants to make. Another or more Armored Core stuff would be good. I'd even take ports from the Ps2 or Ps3 Armored Cores
Modernized Bloodborne.
I'd like to see a survival/crafting/building game from From. I always thought it would be fun to build castles in a Dark Souls universe. You could also have siege mechanics with trebuchets, ballistas, battering rams, maybe have a way to control about 20-30 units like archers and whatnot, I think it could have a good pvp scene. Just thinking out loud here.
Huh? Dark Souls is "killed", for now. Elden Ring is as different to souls as Bloodborne is. Different world, different style of game.

I wouldnt say that. For the most part it's basically just Dark Souls 4 with extra mechanics. Core gameplay is almost entirely the same.

You could use same argument for Bloodborne. In terms of combat mechanics ER differs from souls more than Bloodborne for example.

definitely something new

Elden ring was fun and if they make more souls combat games they'll still be fun probably but I think coming up with newer things would make me happier.

100% let them cook. They're good at it and it seems to me developing new ideas is what they like most (that usually shows through in the end product).

Well... Yeah, pretty much. Which is why we call them Souslbornes now. Only major difference is lack of blocking and the fact that the whole game is more fast paced - even big great weapons still swing relatively quick from what I've seen. The biggest vibe changer is the aesthetic of lovecraftian enlightment era.
