A very good combo is the staff of loss and Night comet.

This staff has very good scaling and gives a damage bonus to this spell. Together they deal well over 1000 damage to regular enemies throughout the game, but it doesn't stop there...

  • Night comet pierces enemies so you can sometimes hit several with one cast.
  • It can be charged for about 15% extra damage.
  • It can also be cast repeatedly, cutting the initial animation time down significantly. This gives a big boost to dps.
  • NPC invaders and bosses don't dodge the spell, though sometimes they dodge the attack animation.

This makes a very good go-to spell right the way through the game.

Other excellent spells include...

  • Spiral Shard is devastating against large enemies and will shred dragons in seconds.
  • Glintstone arc is great against groups, it pierces enemies and travels in a wide arc.
  • Comet is like Night Comet, but cheaper and buffs from a different staff. Expect NPC invaders to dodge this very reliably, though.
  • Loretta's spells are great for sniping and provide a good opener, but are otherwise much too slow for combat.
  • Pick your favourite Moon. Ranni's might be slightly better due to the cold proc. These make good openeers, as they reduce magic defence of the target.
  • The good old Unseen form / Night Maiden's Mist (aka easy mode).
  • Glintstone Icecrag is a good bread and butter spell. Easily spammable, lower damage than Night Comet but also cheaper to cast.
  • Stars of Ruin is great against fast enemies and anyone on a horse.
  • Then, lastly, Comet Azur pairs exceptionally well with the Cerulean Hidden Tear. Down your Physik then melt bosses in a couple of seconds. If the boss has a slow opening, you might kill them before the fight even really starts.

This list isn't exhaustive. Most spells have a niche somewhere.

what is the int scaling on it?

Edit: What staff are you using, and what spells? Against which enemies?

oh im still using the beastman staff...
We need more details but know this, spells should complement your melee weapon. It's usually not a good idea to rely heavily on spells. I usually start with Terra Magica followed by Stars of Ruin. That said, experimentation and adaptability are paramount.

Thanks for the Tip I didn't know there's a lot to consider being a mage... This is my first time playing a mage... I have two character each STR and DEX build... I never knew being a mage is so difficult hahaha gotta git gud... Thanks again...
My staff progression would normally be something like...

Early game: Meteorite
Mid game: Academy glintstone, Carian glintblade, or Carian glintstone; depending on the sorceries you want to use.
Late game: Carian regal scepter.
