Its usually recommended to make a back up save regularly to avoid this.
You could use a mod to make a new character from scratch with the items and levels you had, and just speedrun the main bosses and quests you had.
The cause in my case was a bloody finger that invaded, by the name of "God". Shortly after this hacker joined, I received a half dozen armor sets and loaded up in the Ashen Capital.
After loading up in the Ashen Capital and before beginning a new ng+ journey, any time I tried to do multi-player it gave me "inappropriate activity detected". I strongly suggest avoiding multi-player until you begin a new game (thusly reseting the corrupted world)
Time to do some refreshes on Malcolm Reynolds channel to see if there's juicy content being uploaded soon.
