Why some people dont enjoy mimic.
So there is a lot of discussion about Spirit Summons
I always had the standpoint that Spirit summons completely change the game
Not saying you are not allowed to use them.
Just saying you arent playing the same game than someone who doesnt use Spirit summons.

i just recently got into the DLC and decided that whenever it feels like i get destroyed by a boss i will then from now on use everything the game offers me and see how it goes and record it on video.

The first boss i did find was the Dancing Lion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSkHUZNL4lo

I tried it 4 times without summon but never even got him down to 80%
I got completely destroyed within seconds each time.

So here is my first attempt using a mimic.

1.) moves of the bossfight i know = 0
2.) get hit by everyting = (x) check
3.) having no idea what is even happening = (x) check

4.) still easy win = [x] check

So mimic did solo the Dancing Lion for me.
How does it feel ?
I honestly dont know
my contribution to the victory was close to 0.

Not complaining , just showing again that using mimic is turns Elden Ring into a completely different game

We don't like crutch mechanics. It is about the victory being meaningful. Mimic is not a feature you play with. It plays the game for you.
The thing I do not enjoy about the spirits is coper-culture that they create aka "X is designed to be fought with summons". Apart from that they are totally cool, I use it all the time if I just want to skip the fight.

Head designer says he uses them, and the bosses have felt off ever since ER. At this point it's more of a stretch to say they weren't designed with them in mind.
mimic is the equivalent of a lower difficulty setting. so is a strong tank like dung eater (what i am using)

it does also change other aspects of play, but how else would they incorporate a difficulty setting in ER? (other than scadu, leveling, shields, magic... i guess there are a whole lot of them)

i understand that some people want Hard to be easier, but if it was a normal setting in the menu, this view would get no traction and they would just be told to play at their level

Well it is all a question where you put the skill baseline really.

With all do respect to their work, I have doubts that a game-designer is also a good benchmark for player-skill level.

It's like I would not judge the skillbaseline in playing football by the performance of stadium architect.

i don't understand why people need approval from people that have do absolutely no effect on their life.

you play how you want to as long as you're having fun, others can keep malding all they like

Do you really thing that crazy dudes that are playing with same strength build with some boring heavy sword for last 10 years have much authority and you need their approval?
They are not playing, they are suffering, this is not something that brings some joy into your life. Game have to be entertaining, so you can do everything you want.

Don't play like somebody talking to you, you have a right to use every game mechanics you like. You can PVP so as you wish, you can even heal in PVP and it's totaly legal.

If people get annoyed by being told that spirit ashes are an easy option, then that's entirely on them, because it factually is.

It requires very little player autonomy or decision making to ring a bell at the start of a fight.

If you feel bad about it, that's on you.
Watching the video I finally understand why people say mimics are op. I've tried one on my faith incant character, and it really just acts as a decoy because it can't get any incantations off. But this? The thing was soloing it.

Well I waited 2 years for this game to come out, I don't understand why people would want to complete the boss on the first try (with no refight option) just to be spit out into the empty world again. Can I just get some good fights.

I'm genuinely annoyed that I can't re-fight remembrance bosses like in Sekiro without having to jump into NG+.
I have spend 60+40 euros for this game and im going to play it the way I want not as someone say i should play it

This idea that people are telling you how to play the game is weird.

Nobody asked. Nobody cares.
After finishing last boss I went and watched some stream vods of how different people were approaching it. The most cinematic/awesome looking experiences were from people doing 3 player coop in which they all filled different roles (e.g. warrior/rogue/mage etc) and I now absolutely believe that was the intended experience
