Crocotile 3D

Crocotile 3D is a tile-based 3d modeling application. A great tool for creating lowpoly models and scenes with pixel-art textures. Select tiles directly from tilesets and place them into a scene to give them a third dimension. Use various tools to edit your tiles and shape your models.

Improved: Heightmap generator works more reliably, and has new options (Axis, Min, and Max). The documentation has been updated with information about these options.
Improved: Exporting with Vertex Normals set to Smooth should now calculate the weighted normals more accurately.
Changed: Tilebrush position rounding was too strict and caused issues when tilescale was less than 1.
Fixed: Dragging the buttons that appear when holding spacebar caused them to be imported as images.
Fixed: Dragging the spinning Tyler loading image caused it to be imported as a tileset.
Fixed: Mouse-wheeling over a disabled input could increment/decrement it.
Fixed: If enabling "Object Mode Hide All" in the settings while editing an object, the tiles of the currently edited object would become hidden and wouldn't reappear.

Added: You can now drag images into the Crocotile window to import them.
Added: "Select Entire Tileset" keybinding in the Tileset panel that will select the entire tileset. Ctrl+A is the default binding.
Added: "Copy/Apply Tileset only (not UVs)" option in Edit > Settings > Draw Mode. If enabled, only the tileset will change when eyedropping tiles from the scene, or applying the tilebrush to existing tiles.
Added: "Copy/Apply Tileset only (not UVs)" keybinding in Edit > Buttons > Draw Mode. This toggles the corresponding setting.
Added: Tileset palettes can now be named.
Added: Primitive Spacing inputs in the Transform panel to specify the spacing when using the Primitive brush. If set to 0, it will use the grid rounding value.
Added: Customizable colors for vertices in Edit > Settings > Edit Mode panel. Each vertex color option needs to be a different color.
Fixed: Pasting translucent pixels in the Painting panel now takes into account the Alpha Application mode.
Fixed: Movement in Freelook mode would be incorrect if the camera's up direction was set to a different axis.
Fixed: "Next/Previous Prefab" keybindings wouldn't work.
Fixed: If vertices were selected, hovering over their UVs in the UVs panel would highlight the vertices red and wouldn't unhighlight them.
Fixed: Setting a vertex weight of 0 for a bone wouldn't unassign the bone from the vertex. Now it should.
Fixed: If auto-flatten was enabled and dragging a single vertex caused multiple UVs to change, it only created undo states for the single vertex. Now it should apply to all changes.
Fixed: Extruding with Alt+E without using the Gizmo wouldn't use gridrounding value. Now it does.
Fixed: If a UV animation was given a blank name, it couldn't be named anymore.
Fixed: If closing Spinning Gif panel or Movie panel before finished process, it would cause errors.
Fixed: Select weighted/unweighted vertices actions wouldn't work on unskinned tiles.

Normal maps issue in Unity

Hi! I'm having a lot of fun with Crocotile 3D, but I came across some weird issue I'd like to share to try and get some help. I made an object in Crocotile 3D with a 32x32 tileset, and made a normal map based on this tileset. Once imported in Unity, I made a basic material using URP lit shader, put the tileset as albedo and the normal map as well. Would I struggle with Crocotile 3D if I want to use high resolution textures?

The examples I see are using pixel-style graphics but while I'm interested in low-poly 3D models, I also want to use high resolution textures at the same time. With that in mind, would Crocotile 3D be able to accommodate my usecase or is it strictly for pixel-style textures only?...

I know, Blender is a way powerful tool, but I want to focus on the code. Therefore, Crocotile suits better.

It takes a while to figure out, but once you do, it gets pretty easy. So just like any other software, honestly. Miles easier than Blender, for example, if you wanna make simple, non-photoreal objects.
My main issue right now is figuring out how to move edges in a more precise way, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
