A racing game made by the creators of Senran Kagura.

If you’ve played a Senran Kagura game before, the game structure will be somewhat familiar to you. You go to story mode and select between teams composed of two girls and follow through their story mode. Much like doing the story mode of each ninja school in a Senran Kagura game. Once you complete them all, you unlock one final story mode to finish off the game’s story.

As you race, you have challenges to do to get stars, 3 stars total per race. Challenges are like “shoot all racers at least once”, “maintain a speed of 110km for at least 5 seconds”, and more. Get all three stars in a race and you unlock cosmetics like costumes and hairstyles.

Much like Senran Kagura, you can customize and accessorize all the girls in the game to your hearts content. You can even customize the jets with different colors, finishes, parts that enhance or add functionality. If you don’t have enough money to buy the parts or costumes, you can engage in mini-games that reward you with them. From washing your jet to doing air stunts, the mini-games are fun and creative.

The characters are fantastic. They’re you’re typical anime tropey type characters, but if you like that sort of thing like I do, it’s just pure fun. My favorite is the foreigner called Jennifer Peach. This girl is adorable. She speaks random English and ends every sentence with “desu!” Not just every sentence, every sound she utters has to be finished with a “desu”! It’s like someone told her, “Hey, in Japan, saying that at the end makes you sound more polite”, so she just always uses it constantly. It’s hilarious and cute. The other characters are great too. They all have something they bring to the experience.

My only complaint, and it’s a bit of a big one, it’s the inconsistent difficulty. The game is stupid easy if you diligently customize your jet to have the latest and greatest parts that enhance speed and acceleration. To make the game more challenging, I recommend you focus on getting all 3 stars on every race and refrain from upgrading your jet unless a challenge makes it impossible unless you upgrade. Like, the “reach a speed of 115km” is not possible without at least a few upgrades. So to maintain a good level of difficulty, I had to keep holding back on the upgrades, and I really shouldn’t have to do that. Especially when Senran Kagura games themselves offer a hard mode for each mission.

Overall, I love this game and I’m currently watching the anime, which I recommend as well. It’s ecchi with full frontal nudity, if you’re wondering. It makes me wonder if the anime is representative of this game’s cut features in order to appease Sony. I still very much recommend this game, just remember not to upgrade your jet too much if you value difficulty in your racing games.
