i WILL be playing more games by chilla's art

One of Chilla's Arts first outings, this one is a prototype for what other superior games would become. Still has their DNA all over it, but it wasn't quite ripe yet. Still, I had fun playing through it and will revisit it again from time to time.

Despite being short, it still manages to be painfully slow and it all builds up to what I feel is a wet fart of an ending, absolutely lacking any punch.
In style/theme, I feel that this is somewhat reminiscent of the early 00's Japanese paranormal horror, "The Ring" comes to mind.
Hopefully their later games manage to pack more a punch/actually be scary.
I will say that I did enjoy the environment and small touches which at the very least felt authentic (which makes sense, since they seem to be located in Japan from what I gather), so there's that going for it.

(Played on Steam deck) Very short but can't complain for the price. Have been watching YouTubers playing Chilla's Art games and thought I would give them a try so thought this was a good place to start. Controls were clunky and graphics were basic but did actually enjoy it and will be checking out The bathhouse next (or parasocial) so hoping they work on the deck!

Good for the price! About 1-2 hours of gameplay (I went back to get the other ending and accidentally got the one I already had, so I had to replay again).
The atmosphere of this is absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fantastic. The sounds, the graphics, everything is great. The gameplay was interesting, linear (until the end), but it was a cool mix of things I hadn't really seen before. I would totally play a more fleshed out version of this with actual convenience store management with the added thing of ghosts messing with you and your work.
The one complaint I have is the jumpscares, I think jumpscares are really cheap and lazy, and this game already nailed down the spooky horror aspect without them. Jumpscares don't make you scared, they just startle you in the moment. The other scary bits of the game were built off of the atmosphere, that kept me on my toes, the jumpscares kind of ruined it a bit for me.
That being said, I'll definitely be checking out some other of Chilla's Art games! It was a great horror experience, and it's very cheap! Worth the money!
