"Why is it always you three?"
Gotta ask, when it comes to both this and Underhive Wars, why are the three major focused gangs always Escher, Orlock, and Goliath?
Like in this game, it sucks a bit harder because they make mention of all the other playable groups too. Corpse Grinders, Helots, Delaque, Van Saar, Palanite Enforcers, Redmptionists, etc.
But then when you play the game, you're always up against those three. Like come on.
Then theres the missions where you're doing a job and are given gangers to help you. Why is Van Saar asking me to defend their territory from Orlocks, and an Orlock gang is helping me on the job? (literally just did that mind)
(I haven't seen any other gangs yet so I'm making the assumption)
EDIT: Right, forgot there *is* one other faction you fight in the game, but its not like...*really* a faction I don't think.

That's because of the other factions you mention, none of them are actually playable, as it wouldn't actually fit the lore. The Helots are a Chaos Cult, House Van Saar and House Delaque control gangs in the Underhive of other Necromundan hive cities, Palanite Enforcers are the local police, and Redemptionists are religious nutjobs so fanatical in their devotion to the Emperor that even the Inquisition's nervous about them. The Corpse Grinders? You don't want to know. Those factions spend as little time in the Underhives as they can. But Escher, Orlock, and Goliath? When it comes to the hive city where the game is set, those three Clan houses ARE the Underhive gangs.

So, I never asked them to be playable insofar as this game. Though in Underhive wars, Van Saar and Cawdor were added as DLC. I was wondering why they aren't an enemy we can fight.

For the city we're in: Are we not in the underhives of Hive Primus? Cause I thought every house is involved there. Am I wrong? Please let me know where we are cause I may just have a massive misconception going on and that would suck but I read that all the clan houses are active on hive primus.

As for the other groups, in order:
I know the factions, for the most part, from mostly doing regular reading of lexicanum, which I know is not exactly the best way to do it but its all I got right now.
I know who the Helots and corpse grinders are. Morseo the corpse grinder. They are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I love it XD. But yeah, not surprised to not see them in *this* game at least as an enemy faction. Doesn't really fit the vibe they were going for.
Genestealer cults did appear in this game but, frankly, it was kinda half baked imo.
Redemptionists I don't expect to fight, but it would be interesting. Same with Enforcers as it would be interesting to accept a job from a gang to go up against the local law enforcement.

It's mainly the Clan Houses I'm confused on cause I (at least in my perspective) don't see how it breaches the lore to have the clan houses scrabbling in this underhive. Granted it might be odd to throw hands with Delaque's, but Van Saar and Cawdor don't feel so strange.

Yes, the game is set in the underhives of Hive Primus, but that's WHY we only see Orlock, Escher, and Goliath gangs. The gangs those three control have sway over Hive Primus' Underhive. The other Gang Houses have a presence there, but the Orlock, Escher, and Goliath gangs pretty much rule the roost.

It's not so much lore-breaking as it's just weird to see those other houses in the Underhive, because they're focused on other things. House Cawdor and the Redemptionist cult are pretty much one and the same, and House Van Saar focuses on manufacturing stuff. That doesn't leave a lot of time for controlling gangs. As for the Palanite Enforcers, you kinda DO work for them in a really roundabout way; Kal Jerico's your primary quest-giver, and from time to time, he's taken on missions for his dad, the current planetary governor.

Goootcha. Okay, thanks a bunch for that context!

Fair enough. I always differentiated Cawdor and the Redemptionists mainly based on organization/appearance but I don't know ♥♥♥♥ tons about them both per-say as they aren't one of the groups I was interested in (I was interested in the Palanites, Iron Head Squats, Corpse Grinders, and Ash Waste Nomads). And yeah, I knew we are *teeeechnichally* working for the Palanites which is why we don't fight them, but I was at least hoping to see them as an ally model.

I did realize I was stupid though with the saying "oh they hired orlocks to defend from orlocks" statement as I didn't realize that they're more accurately other mercs. Reskinned of course, but other mercs never the less I think.

I suspect the reason we don't see them is BECAUSE we're working in the Underhive. Their entry on lexicanum says that indiviual Palanites will appear in the Underhive, but because of that, I don't think they would make their identity known. Kinda hard for someone to police the Underhive if everyone around them knows they're a cop. So for all we know, the two hired guns we're with in the prologue might actually be plainclothed Palanites.
