It's a fun enough but also quite frustrating game with some novel mechanics. Having missions with varied objectives keeps things somewhat fresh. The capturing items and enemies to brainwash with varied stats does also provide a meta-progression of building up your arsenal and your followers. Theres also a lot of different rooms to build in your base and a lot to upgrade. The base and followers mechanic is a novel twist and also is the most interesting part of the game. As you unlock new rooms that provide more varied benefits it leads to a lot of "one more run" that keeps you engaged.

Then theres the cons. With so much to do and use money on, the rewards are way too small as you can only do 1-2 things but you need to buy weapons, followers, research, expand, brainwash, heal, etc, and it all costs money. This forces a bit too much grind for funds. Its also dumb you can't unlock every room, as there was 2 I couldn't build because there wasn't enough space, and it wouldn't have been hard to add a bit more space to get everything. Also many of the research upgrades provide less wait time on things, or a few (many times situational) benefits, but most of them don't feel that impactful and you never feel like it makes you much stronger which is kind of the whole point of a roguelike is the power creep. Also theres tons of guns and hats, but like 2/3 of them are useless so theres just a bunch of trash that clogs up the levels that you'll never use because its so much worse than the other 1/3 meaning you'll be sticking to a few guns and hats.

The main problem in the moment to moment gameplay during runs which isn't great. Things happen super fast, and most of the time you get hit you have no idea why and it rarely feels like your fault. Later levels have tons of traps all throughout the levels, and the levels are super narrow and claustrophobic. You take contact damage even if the person doesn't have a weapon which makes 0 sense. You'll randomly just slip and fall and be stunned for 5 seconds and take multiple hits or you'll be juggled by stuns with no control over what happens. The aiming is super finnicky and it missed a lot of times when it felt i was aiming at somebody. You'll lose health quickly and its done to make the game more "chaotic" and "wacky" but its mostly just annoying and feels cheap, as opposed to a game like broforce. Guys also always have perfect aim and same with turrets which are all over levels. Levels just get too cluttered and the gunplay just isn't good and many times I would shoot at a guy and he wouldn't be damaged and I would have no idea why, or thered be a massive explosion that would instantly kill me without warning.

The final mission is also cheap as its 16 levels, when all levels have been 1-4 levels, so it feels like unncessary and cheap forcing you to die and grind more for upgrades first. The game never has a feeling of a skill ceiling for getting better, just lucky. I also did lose a few runs because of getting stuck in walls due to bugs.

Overall the game was decent, but play it for the novel base/follower system and not the action/platforming gameplay. 7.5/10
