It happens only while playing this game, i have steam overlay enabled in the properties of this game and i dont have this problem with any other game. It's not anything unbearable, just wanted to know if there is something i can do about it.

The Dev should answer this, but I believe it just isn't supported.

Unfortunately I have to confirm this, the Steam Overlay isn't working for this game because I used weird niche tech; it does work in my newer games though and will for sure in Core Defense 2 :-)
