A Space for the Unbound x Makeship Collaboration - Nirmala Plush!

Hello, Space Divers.

Introducing the first Makeship collaboration with A Space for the Unbound, featuring one of the game's most enthusiastic children, Nirmala! The adorable plush had been crafted with the same level of diligence and precision that Makeship is known for and is expected to be a treasured limited-time collectible for all the A Space for the Unbound fans out there.

Alone in the secret base that no one ever visits, a young girl sits silently. She usually writes and draws or waits for a certain someone to arrive so they can play together. That certain someone is Atma, a high school boy with star-shaped bangs, coming to her aid to satisfy all her curiosity. When he arrived, the young girl smiled brightly and waved to him like she's been waiting forever. This girl is none other than Nirmala, a curious and bright child full of ideas like a child her age should be.

"Mr. Co-Writer, will you help me again today?"

Nirmala is a wise young lady that always finds a way with her words and attitude, which it makes difficult to make friends around her age. It's both a gift and a curse when she's standing out where not everyone can understand her. Due to how she was brought up, she developed a naturally curious character but, at the same time, endeavors to avoid getting into any problematic situations.

Despite being a cheerful child, Nirmala has a melancholic side that only certain people know about.

Nirmala is an active girl who has always been seen outside with her trusty olive yellow bucket hat and donned in her casual yellow shirt and white shorts.

Although wonderment and curiosity might lead her into a perilous situations, her intuition consistently assists her in avoiding any danger.

Devlog: Behind The Game Director’s Favorite Character

Hello, Space Divers!

How are you? I hope you have all been doing well!

Today I want to share the game director, Dimas Novan’s favorite character in A Space for the Unbound, and a glimpse of the process in the character design.

It might be obvious to you that Dimas’ favorite character is Raya. At first, I assumed it was because Raya is a female protagonist with supernatural power. But, when I asked him why, he quickly answered, “The game itself exists because of Raya. The world, the story, and every detail are built around her.”

When A Space for the Unbound started seven years ago, Raya was initially designed to be more valiant and menacing, compared to the final design we see today. Then Dimas decided to design Raya as someone mysterious because in the game story, she’s trying to hide her supernatural power.

A Space for the Unbound: Broken Memories is Available and Free to Read!

We have a great story to tell as we are counting down to the release of A Space for The Unbound later this year. A Space for the Unbound: Broken Memories is a webcomic series, that tells the story of Niken, the teacher of our protagonist. You will also encounter her in the game with many other characters mentioned in the webcomic!

A Space for The Unbound: Broken Memories Synopsis
Niken is an ordinary math teacher who lives in unordinary circumstances. She keeps getting inexplicable visions during her walking and sleeping. She seems to have a different perception of the world from the people around her, preventing her from truly connecting with others. In her deep loneliness, she met another person who shared her pain.

A Space for the Unbound: Broken Memories is a 12-chapter webcomic series. A new chapter will be released every week for a few months. You can read them in English (ENG) and Bahasa (IDN).

Happy Indonesia's Game Day!

Apa kabar?

That means "how are you" in Indonesian. And yes, we have finally added Indonesian to the language options for friends from our beloved country, Indonesia. We hope our fellow Indonesians will be able to enjoy the game more now that the game not only sets in Indonesia, but can also be enjoyed with the local language.

Today, August 8th, is Indonesia's Game Day or Hari Game Indonesia. We want to give appreciation to all local game developers who've been developing awesome games and together help each other to grow and to bring Indonesia's games to the world. We are also proud to be part of it. Devlog: (Not-So) Exclusive Footage of the Full Game

Hello hello!

The past couple months have been really busy, but we’re happy about it! Due to the pandemic, there are lots of online events here and there and we get to join them without having to fly there.

And one of the event we participated in recently was Wholesome Direct where we showcased exclusive footage from the full game of A Space for the Unbound. And more exciting news from us.

A Space for the Unbound is coming to consoles worldwide with the help of awesome team from PQube!
And friends from Chorus Worldwide will help with the Asia/Japan console release! We’ve been receiving more exposure from people in Japan, thanks to Chorus Worldwide team as well.
Thanks to our supporters, we will have new languages on the next update of the prologue! Here are the hints: RU, DE, ES, and one more that we will reveal next month.

We’re sooooooo excited! I hope you are all excited, too!

Devlog: The Story Behind A Space for the Unbound

Hello, everyone!

I’m Dimas, the art director of A Space for the Unbound.

My team and I recently did an interview for Indie Obscura, we talked about behind the scenes of A Space for the Unbound there. You can check out the video here and give it a like!

The Inspiration

After the interview, I feel like I want to share the story behind A Space for the Unbound here, too. So here it goes!

A Space of the Unbound started off as an internal game jam in 2015. Back then, there’s no really a clear vision on what the gameplay would be, and then I just made a very experimental one and a concept trailer. After it garnered some attention we decided to continue this project. You can see the initial build of A Space for the Unbound - The Bridge we made back in 2015 here:

Back to the topic. As for the overall experience, initially, I just want to tell a story about a girl who has a deep secret while she is seemingly living her happy daily life. The inspiration comes from a lot of movies, manga, and anime. Some of them are based on a slice of life genre and there’s also magical realism genre, too. I was inspired by a lot of movies such as Inception (Christopher Nolan) and The Truman Show (Peter Weir), and then manga by Oshimi Shuuzo-sensei also a novel The Strange Library by Haruki Murakami-sensei. And I want to combine all those inspirations with Indonesian culture and setting.

90s Indonesia

Why 90s Indonesia rural setting?
Actually, the 90s wasn’t really the initial plan. As someone who grew up watching anime and born in the 90s, I just really want to preserve all the good times I had back in the day.

When I was in high school, I was blown away by Makoto Shinkai-sensei’s work and I discovered that he uses a lot of real-life locations, and at that time I realized that a lot of anime also does that too. Back in the day I also discovered an activity named [/i]anime pilgrimage[/i]. A group of people doing a tour to real-life locations and compare the location with the animation scenes counterpart, and it inspires me a lot. I mean, if we can visualize and transform our environment, our hometown in a new, different way, in this case, pixel art, maybe we can appreciate the place we live in more, and we can add some new value to it.

It’s a really fun process! After narrowing down all the ideas, we came up with the keyword “90s” because as I mentioned before, we want to give a tribute to the time when we grew up.
