Thanks for this.
Hard pass then.
Like most people at this point, I'm hesitant to buy because of all the complaints about it being an unfinished game with no indication it will be finished. If the devs want people to buy the game, they should work on fixing and finishing the game. Multiplayer is not a factor for me, and makes about as much sense progress-wise as adding first person POV to a third person game. It's not going to address existing issues, and will just create a whole new list of complications for the devs to deal with in addition to... all the existing issues that are already being ignored, from the sounds of it.
And... why is it SEPARATE? Why not add a new, completely separate mode to the existing game instead of expecting everyone to go download some additional demo? At least then it would look like the game is being updated in SOME capacity... though I'm sure it would garner the exact same complaints.
No one wants you to prioritise multiplayer. We want you to finish and expand the game that is already there. Not giving any content updates in a year, on an unfinished game, with the excuse that you've spent the time adding multiplayer, is not a good look.
The Developer never updated the Game since it entered EA. He had no issue taking the money. But remove any illusions there is a misunderstanding. Or there is a rush to judgement. 3 entire years. Zero updates of any kind.
As for why Multiplayer is separate. It's so he can fleece more money out of people. That is literally it.
There is a reason for the united uniform hate the Dev is rightfully getting.
is it abandoned or nah?
I remember when I first wishlisted this game, it released in Early Access and immediately ended up with mixed reviews, with lots of complaints about bugs and technical problems. The review score didn't recover and it stayed on mixed, which is pretty much a kiss of death for an indie game on Steam. So, my theory is that the devs are doing this other side game and polishing it up more so they can release something with positive reviews and then use that to advertise the original.
So in a way, it is semi-abandoned for now because trying to climb out of the mixed reviews pit by just updating this game alone would be very difficult at this point.
I don't play multiplayer, I don't care about multiplayer. Either update the keyboard controls to not need twenty fingers to operate or come out with controller options. The game is virtually unplayable in it's current format and it has nothing to do with multiplayer.
Focus on working on the game you made before you try to sell everyone something else. If you cared about the shooter mechanics for the original you'd be testing this stuff out there and not making a new game people will have to pay for.
