Zelter

Effectively abandoned. Don't buy this.
Originally announced for a July 2023 release, Zelter: Zombie Zhooter has quietly dropped its release date, and the developers haven't provided any updates since.

Zelter hasn't seen any updates since its last update in August 2022. Unless development resumes or the developers start communicating again, I'd recommend avoiding this game entirely.

We understand your frustration, and we're sorry for the inconvenience. Our team has been working diligently to bring multiplayer to the original Zelter. One of the steps to this goal - is this new Zombie Zhooter mode, which offers a different gameplay experience from the original Zelter, focusing on action and multiplayer. This release will help us gather valuable feedback to enhance the multiplayer aspect, which will be added to the original Zelter. You can try this mode for free on Steam Next Fest next week!

Ouch. Not a good look for someone thinking about buying this game seeing devs trying to side-sell a different release.... wow.

Side-selling a different release WHILE not finished this one in over 3 years. I bought it on Epic even before it was released on steam and the improvements are little to nothing. It was entertaining an promising but its still a pretty unfinished beta. In 2017 i decided when i have an unfinished game that i don´t buy any stuff from the developer until its done.

Oh.
Thanks for this.
Hard pass then.

I'm confused. If the original game does not have mulitiplayer, that means a whole bunch of people bought it to play... the type of game it currently is, and all its respective gameplay elements. The primary complaint seems to be that the game is unfinished... not that it does not have multiplayer. Because it's not a multiplayer game...?

Like most people at this point, I'm hesitant to buy because of all the complaints about it being an unfinished game with no indication it will be finished. If the devs want people to buy the game, they should work on fixing and finishing the game. Multiplayer is not a factor for me, and makes about as much sense progress-wise as adding first person POV to a third person game. It's not going to address existing issues, and will just create a whole new list of complications for the devs to deal with in addition to... all the existing issues that are already being ignored, from the sounds of it.

And... why is it SEPARATE? Why not add a new, completely separate mode to the existing game instead of expecting everyone to go download some additional demo? At least then it would look like the game is being updated in SOME capacity... though I'm sure it would garner the exact same complaints.

No one wants you to prioritise multiplayer. We want you to finish and expand the game that is already there. Not giving any content updates in a year, on an unfinished game, with the excuse that you've spent the time adding multiplayer, is not a good look.

The Developer never updated the Game since it entered EA. He had no issue taking the money. But remove any illusions there is a misunderstanding. Or there is a rush to judgement. 3 entire years. Zero updates of any kind.

As for why Multiplayer is separate. It's so he can fleece more money out of people. That is literally it.

There is a reason for the united uniform hate the Dev is rightfully getting.

so months later, will we get an update or nah?
is it abandoned or nah?

I have a theory about this game.
I remember when I first wishlisted this game, it released in Early Access and immediately ended up with mixed reviews, with lots of complaints about bugs and technical problems. The review score didn't recover and it stayed on mixed, which is pretty much a kiss of death for an indie game on Steam. So, my theory is that the devs are doing this other side game and polishing it up more so they can release something with positive reviews and then use that to advertise the original.
So in a way, it is semi-abandoned for now because trying to climb out of the mixed reviews pit by just updating this game alone would be very difficult at this point.

no updates means game was abandoned. This is why i no longer buy EA games. Taking this off my wishlist. Sad cause it looked really promising.

I don't play multiplayer, I don't care about multiplayer. Either update the keyboard controls to not need twenty fingers to operate or come out with controller options. The game is virtually unplayable in it's current format and it has nothing to do with multiplayer.

Focus on working on the game you made before you try to sell everyone something else. If you cared about the shooter mechanics for the original you'd be testing this stuff out there and not making a new game people will have to pay for.

I hope your "Zombie shooter" tanks and your company goes the way of the Dodo. The last thing we as gamers and consumers need is more companies like yours releasing half finished after half finished game.

Slimy dev and dead game, glad I found this thread before buying it on sale.

Continuing to sell and discount abandoned games should be against steam policy. Not sure why it's allowed.
