A tightly produced new entry in the 'Seventia' series of games by Qute that also includes Ginga Force and Eschatos (plus maybe Judgement Silversword- all of these games are available on Steam). The 'world building' (sekaikan) of the games is cohesive, and the storylines are engaging with tonnes of original Japanese voice acting, tranlated with subtitles. Graphics look great on a big or small screen, and as others have noted the framerate is rock solid throughout.

It's worth noting that this is a Sci-Fi Anime world with tasteful SFW artwork, not 'bewbs'. A big selling point for me.

The main draw is 'Story Mode', where you can approach the 10+ stages one by one, locking in your results without ever having to do a full run. Each stage is challenging, and you will need to use your Shmup hobby skills of analysis to the fullest, even to clear 100% of the missions on 'Easy' difficulty. Your efforts are rewarded with a host of unlockable, chunky weapons (offensive and defensive) which physically change the look of your player ship as you equip them- another nice touch.

If you really can't live without an arcade style score challenge, you can attempt a full run of all the stages in Arcade Mode, complete with leaderboards. Just remember that Story Mode is your Practice ground at all times.

If you are looking for a route further into the Shmups hobby, I can't recommend this enough.
