Speakers vs. Headphones - which are best for playing this game?
Hello. I, The Nameless King, hereby end the age old debate regarding: "Is Red Dead Redemption better played with Speakers or Headphones?"

The answer is: Headphones are best for playing Red Dead Redemption 2.

To derive this reasonable outcome my below outline showcases my profound testing was in-depth and conducted in accordance with Rockstar Inc. rules & regulations and with relatively High Honor, via whilst in game.

-- Technology utilized for testing purposes --

Device 1: Bose Speakers
Subset: Companion® 2 Series III multimedia speaker system

Device 2: Bose Headphones
Subset: Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 UC

-- Testing Analysis, Derivatives, & Other things: --

:csgox: Disclaimer: Via my testing analysis used to derive this outcome, approximately 100 hours of 10/10 Red Dead Redemption 2, in game playing hours were enjoyed.

With 25 hours deferred to Device 1 and 75 hours given to Device 2 and an expected variance variable of perhaps 2% in outcome impact relevancy measurement (OIRM)(negligible at best)... The headphones were able to provide much clearer and enhanced overall Sound, simply via their proximity to the head and noise cancellation technology, so that is the best way to enjoy Red Dead Redemption 2.

You have the right to feel the opposite or the same or indifferent, ty ~The Nameless King :BirdDesign:

Definitely going to be a matter of preference, and vary wildly depending on hardware...

For instance, I'm generally not a fan of closed back headphones for wide open games like this. It makes things sound boxed in... Standing on top of a mountain, shouldn't sound like standing at the bottom of a well. I prefer a more open soundstage like you get from the Beyerdynamic DT990 headphones.

That being said, I haven't actually got around to moving my PC in to the same room as my surround sound system (Onkyo NR656, 7.2 with gale moviestar speakers). I imagine it would sound ace though, everything else does... Those tiny little desktop speakers from Bose wouldn't come close (sorry, not dissing them, but they're little 7W desktop speakers... They can't really compare to a home theatre system where even the rear satellite speakers are in excess of 100W).

Recently I've been using some bone conduction headphones that are pretty naff for gaming if I'm being honest (dialogue is nice and clear though, and they don't annoy the mrs when I'm gaming at 4 in the morning).

I can appreciate this perspective and no worries, no offense taken per these Bose units are at least 2 years+ old but I haven’t really upgraded the audio portion of my setup and probably won’t for a while.

With that said, I may now try out a few other set top audio bars with subwoofer that packs a punch - and perhaps 1 other headphone but it’d be a direct downgrade as a Corsair headset which is, OK, average product overpriced.

Also I will see if turning on DTS helps this cause or not…
