When is the best time to leave the gang?

So i wanna go and live on my own, just hunt, do some bounties and live on my own in the story. When in the story wound this be best?
is it when the gas is at Clements point. earlier or later? obiously before guarma.

You can "leave" the gang at any time, but they'll send riders out to look for you if you're away from camp for too long. You can just ignore them, but you'll always be in the story. The epilogue is where the freedom is at.

Yeah, I know that. Im asking more in general, like abilities unlocked etc.

Most of your abilities unlock in Chapter 2. That's where you learn to fish and believe it is the chapter you get the upgrade to your deadeye.
