Other FF titles heavily discounted, not FFVI Pixel Remaster :(

In my research while trying to decide whether or not to buy FF6PR, I've read people complaining it's a buggy mess or it's the best version there is, and everything in between. So, what is it? Is it really buggy or not? has it been improved since launch? Not really interested in modding the game if that's what it takes to make it good. Is the PlayStation version better?...
