While pretty lacking in a narrative focus for our "protagonist" this time around, the game instead introduces many of the most foundational "themes" associated with Final Fantasy games for decades to come.

Unfortunately, this would also be among the last to utilize a true turn-based system for some time.

III is unique in that, while other games have previous versions with more content, this one didn't due to being based on the NES/Famicon and the 3D version is rather different compared to the original. If you really want to get at least one Pixel Remaster, then III is your best bet. I got this game when it first came out and it led me to get the other Pixel Remasters.
