Graphics Memory
I don't much about RE3 but I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be some graphical masterpiece like Crysis was back in 2007. I just got a new rig with an RTX2060, which I believe is a decent card. Not the best but pretty good. Yet maxing out RE3's graphics options (still on 1080p, no 4K silliness) eats up 14,000+ of my 8,000 available memory? Seems strangely excessive...? Surely my card can run RE3 maxed out? It runs Doom Eternal maxed out at a solid 60FPS.

You can't just say that a hamburger and a hot dog are the same 'cuz both have some meat in between their bread.

I understand your point but you can't just compare things like that.

RE 2 and RE3 remake have some extra details in their files.

Like nemesis body alone has more polygons than the last fight stage.

If you add tessellation to that in the options imagine that.

Even the most powerful 3d program can only handle an amount of polygons at a time.

Now add physics, effects and the fact that some bodies don't disappear from the stage.

Just saying.

I never said two things were the same, what are you even on about...? Fact remains RE3 is not a graphically high-end game so it shouldn't tax a state of the art card like that. Or do you guys own NASA supercomputers to run the game?

youre not meant to max it out fully, just chose what you can run and looks the best to you and in the future when better cards come out you can make the games even better crisis you werent able to max out the game when it came out either

you have an 8gb card.. when a single graphic option maxed out requires your entire graphics memory, don't you think, "hm, this must not be for current hardware."

leave that at 1-3gb and image quality at 100% and yea the game can be maxed out. these options just allow for massive scaling in the future.

The 1-8gb for HIGH textures is only a buffer for created textures so they don't need to be created from the scratch all the time (reduces stutters). With a decent 8gb gpu you might want to have maxed shadows and 4gb (high) textures. Going well over your max vram may cause huge stutters / lagging...

re3 isnt graphically demanding?
move your character around and watch how each strand of hair moves about

Iirc the re7 engine uses textures from scanned real life objects and are stored as like super high textured resolutions so im guessing they just let you decompress super high textures
