Each Miner can power 5 Sentries... so 15 Miners would power 75 Sentries. I'm pretty amazed the game engine doesn't explode knowing how much math is done every single frame for each Sentry. There was a player who was some how able to build 200 Sentries... was that your Proxydragoon? Blaster? :) How'd you get all the miners to fit?
It's kind of a way to cap the number of Sentries and encourage upgrading vs spamming hundreds of Sentries. It's really interesting though what turns out to be more effective on the battlefield, having hundreds of Sentries vs 50 Fully Upgraded... and there's no way the Drone can keep up the repairs with so many Sentries. I don't see a clear best strategy to me.
But seriously i worked from one end to another and sometime the miner still gives energy even if not on the blue energy mine. You will have to make sure it is still fairly close though. And i usually started on the outside before making my way in :) 215 is my record which I need to beat lol!
I really don't know what the best strategy is personally. I usually go for a mix in with both. So I would usually have like 20 sentries minimum as opposed to people having 5 or 6 lol. Upgrades are pretty much useless (except for the AA upgrade) mainly because in order to get the super useful upgrades you will need to put in 60 metal. That 60 metal can be used for miners or even 6 more turrets. Personally i think having 7 turrets is usually better than having one fully upgraded, mainly because if that on upgraded gets overwhelmed that's an incredible loss of metal. It's fine later on however when you usually are getting an immense supply of metal. Didn't realise i made this that long lol but there ya go :)
hey thats a flexible idea. ill take it. but i think it would make the game easier in a sense. the bigger energy field to mine just gives you room to build more. it doesnt GIVE you more initial energy. which i can see being overpowered to the player side. dont wanna make it too easy ya?
A games difficulty should be set by the PLAYER, the core of the game fine but there should be options for players to play it easier if they so desire.
Its not a wise position to take to say, no it must be hard for everyone because thats how ''I'' like it, it just doesnt seem like a well thought out business decision, allowing an easier setting will bring in more players and likely improve reviews, worth considering...
Its not hard to have set up at the start of a game, settings to adjust a few things to suit a players play style, its time consuming yes, but its absolutely worth the effort.
New games should be looking to broaden there playerbase as much as possible to get sales up to a sustainable position, its worth considering an update soley designed around game settings for different player styles.
Anyway , my 2 cents.
Closed tested of many voxel games, not a programmer.
Although there are difficulty settings, they will not forgive bad game play. If the player makes really bad decisions and poor strategy, I don't want the player to proceed even though they may be on 'easy' mode. Fair enough?
