just got the first raid unlocked with tier 2 gear anything thats usefull against those giant tanky ones?

it states it improves survivability significantly....how does it work? i dont see the stat gains that the word signifies. is it not displayed? also does playing the game on a higher difficulty up the drop rate or item quality?
