It is, my man. And I can't express how sad I am, because I've been looking forward to any kind of news in this stream about Ciconia. Anything, but delay announcement.

I am disappointed as well but I do respect his reasons for doing so. Apparently the content of the next phase was too similar to current events with COVID-19, so R07 thought it would be inappropriate release it until the current situation improves. Guess I'll take this time to read RGD to fill the void :bern:.

That's unfortunate, let's hope we'll get both Phase 2 and 3 next year

One of the most ridiculous reasons ever, this kind of moralistic mentality is truly shameful....
To begin with, it's most definitely a spurious excuse. We all know very well what the real reason for the delay is...
He's just acting more like a commercial than an artist, that's all, and he should say so clearly instead of babbling nonsense.

For me, it's a big insult to have part 1 and still no part 2, it's just a waste of money and time. Don't you think there are elderly people like me whose health is already fragile and who won't stay on earth forever?
What, he's waiting for world peace before releasing part 2? This fake humanist, we're already closer to the 3rd world war than to peace, I'll say it, I'm regretful to have brought this incomplete work to light because of a pseudo-humanist who only thinks of getting wealthy like a good pig!

I don't think it's a matter of being moralistic. I think it's that he set out to create a distinctive near-future fantasy setting with a very specific vibe and narrative, then reality rudely encroached upon that territory, and now he's not really feeling the original themes/narrative and isn't sure how to reassert his creative boundaries. On one hand he could stick with the original vision and have it inevitably be misread as a commentary on real-world events. On the other hand, he could sacrifice the original vision for the sake of distinctiveness. Neither option is obviously compelling.

So a coward's dilemma.

Wouldn't that be the best time to release such a work though? So people could think and reflect on reality. That's just my opinion, but I really think he missed an opportunity to release a great work with some strong and interesting message to people.

As generic and boring as it sounds, I think he stopped working on Ciconia simply because it flopped hard money wise. He realized that milking Higurashi would be way easier and way more efficient. He's not a young guy anymore and probably have a lot of responsibilities, so maybe I should not blame him, but damn... It's sad that Ciconia is in such a state and probably will stay that way. It is what it is.

I hope he doesn't cry over the "psychological slap in the face" he's about to receive.

reminds me. in 2021, when I was still writing webnovel, I had an idea to write a steampunk piece about alternate universe russia fighting alt universe prussia which territory roughly corresponded to modern day poland, baltics, belarus and ukraine

from russian pov

the key events would include battle of konigsberg, conquest of kiev and eventual military mutiny in russia

im so glad I didn't start writing it, lol
