Aragami 2

Is this worth as a fan of the first game?
I loved the first game, but I’m struggling to decide whether I should buy this one or not. I prefer the main focus of the first game because it reminds me of Splinter Cell where the main focus is stealth. I know this has more combat which is a downside for me, but not a game killer. Will enjoy this as a more stealth sided fan, or will this be a slog. Thank you in advance.

Is it still a good game even if it doesn’t do the first one justice?
Eh. Some things are good, most are bad.
1. All their blood squirt out all at once and paint the whole map red. Unrealistic looking and ugly. Enemies also don't care about it.
2. My personal preference is ragdolls, but the enemies just have the static dead position.
3. You know all the light group and dark group? Throw all that out and bring in fire and have the aragami just be random people turned into a creature that slowly loses their sanity.
4. Tried to add the Dishonored knock out system, but it doesn't mater if they are knocked out or dead. Cool I guess, but utterly pointless.
5. Parkour is trash.
6. Hidden collectibles aren't really hidden too good.
7. Stealth honestly sucks. If you don't use powers, encounters kinda feel scripted. You got enemies standing next to windows, next to tall grass, have giant gaps where they are secluded. All things that stealth games have but just done wrong (imo. Honestly just comparing this experience to other stealth games like assassin's creed, which is kinda unfair because all the games up to unity are AMAZING and make this game just look like hot garbage.)
8. Missions suck. Just collect something and dip typically.
9. Feeds into the last one. You just become the caretaker of the village of aragami and just have to collect ♥♥♥♥ for them and save their people.

Now onto somethings that aren't horrible.
1. They added melee. Kinda lackluster, but better than nothing.
2. Skills are cool. They made the shadow dragon into a top tier skill that has a cooldown. They also have Sekiro's bloodsmoke ninjutsu (dunno if you played Sekiro. Basically, just kill the person and make a concealing mist, allowing chain assassinations and healing.) There are more that are pretty basic like attracting and invisibility.
3. Mana system instead of having 2 ability charges.
They do have a bit of hommig to the original. You can pick to play a mode where you have to stay in the dark to get mana (like the first one). Enemies hit like a truck as well. Never tried it though.
4. Added non-combative civilians that scream. Huge pain in the ass, but makes you have to change strategies.
5. Non-moving captain who sends guards to check out locations. Heavily locks areas down and forces you to use powers to get around sneakily.
6. I personally like the basic mask more than the original.
7. Co-op. Never done it before.

Now I have only 11 hours, so take this with a grain of salt. I honestly hate this game and want a refund, but get someone else's opinion before making a decision. If you want an actually good stealth game, pick up any of the older games. Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla are rpgs and kinda suck. Syndicate has auto parkour. Unity is still a little jank but has amazing parkour. Rogue is just black flag copy. Black flag and 3 got braindead combat but an amazing story and alright stealth. Ezio trilogy is a literal god-send. First is pretty good but insanely repetitive. Besides syndicate and the rpgs, all have good stealth. Head over to one of their pages and ask if it is worth it.

Pretty sure you know this already, but these devs are gone and the games won't be getting any updates. Sorry about the rant.

Thank you for the reply. I like when people spend time replying about everything so I don’t have to ask questions after their first one and I might never get a reply. I’ve only played Mirage when it comes to the Assassins Creed franchise and I really enjoyed it. I really want to play 2, Brotherhood, and Unity. I feel like I’ll replay the first Aragami and play through the DLC. Maybe I’ll pick this up on a steep sale if I feel like playing it later. Yes, I’ve heard of the devs closure :(. My guess is Aragami 2 was such a flop that they couldn’t come back from it. If they kept to the roots with Aragami 2; they might’ve succeeded.

I'm a huge fan of the first game as well. And everything that P O P said is true...

With that being said, I do enjoy this game a lot. Very different from the first game. But in my opinion it is still a very good stealth game, and yes, the main focus is stealth. That hasn't changed, they just added combat as an option. But you are still penalized when you are detected by the enemy.

I don't know if you ever played or heard of "Tenchu." Which is a stealth ninja game series. If you like Tenchu, you will like this game. Aragami 2 is pretty much a moden day Tenchu.

The coop can be a lot of fun if you are playing with the right people. Up to 3 players coop. And if you do decide to get this game and enjoy it, and wanna coop, leave a comment here and add me.

One last thing. The steam winter sale is on and this game is 75% off. This would be a good time to pick it up for dirt cheap and try it out. Refund: you can play the game for under 2 hours and request a refund within 2 weeks (both conditions must be met) if you decide you do not like this game.

Planning on picking them up on Tuesday. I was actually looking for someone to CO OP with. I play on Steam Deck, but that shouldn’t be a problem since there’s no anti cheat. I also won’t have voice chat. If either of those stop you from wanting to CO OP then it’s okay. I’ll send a friend request just in case.

That's perfect because I prefer not to voice chat!

Very good question... I'm EST.
PST here. Is that a three hour difference then? If I played earlier in the day here it wouldn’t be a problem time wise here.
